Starting in 96 and not visiting bbs's and not networking with anyone before 2001.
Basically wasted 5 years, that's nice.

My biggest mistake was giving back CDR's 540 bmw when I should have fucking kept it.

On the other hand, the best thing I've ever done was walk out of that stupid fuck's company, knowing that they would never sell another ad as long as they lived. Adios CDR, you fuckin dirty mofo! btw, the 5 was a BLAST racing that ferrari through the nevada desert!

the biggest miatake people make is spending all thier time deveolping and not marketing thier product/service right.

Online? I guess trying too many things at once.

In real life? Not going to enough parties at Internext Expo.

When we started we thought we would be happy with selling only to content providers for an extra $2-300, sets exclusive.
We were idiots, make that within 2-4 weeks of launching a set.
Oh yes, and not starting 5 years ago when Richard of Richards Realm came to meet me.

There's a long list of mistakes, in detail they make for some great story telling. Here's a few:

1) Instead of continuing in the tradition of operating my own BBS once I got into high school I got a license and started dating. Missed the whole internet phenominon.

2) Took on a business partner #1 in 1999 because he brought 25k to the table when I had the funds to begin with and proceeded to fund the next 100k anyways.

3) Never having operated a porn site in '99 when we bought the established porn site we got screwed, royally. Didn't know how to do proper due dilligence on a porn site... traffic got redirected, he played NetSol domain transfer games. blah blah blah

4) Used my own merchant accounts for the first year and a half in business. EEK-GADS

5) Got screwed by business partner #1 and had about $20,000 stolen from me, finally dumped that loser douchebag in August of '00.

5) Consistently underestimated my abilities. In creating the world's greatest phone sex company I took on a partner once again when I didn't need to. Grew the fuck out of the company entirely by myself and gave half of it away to him in August of '01 to end the useless partnership.

.... okay enough bitching. Things are good, I'm smart as hell now and making bank :) I just had a steep and expensive learning curve.
