Are you addicted to the internet?
 

There are some academics (and spouses) taking Internet Addiction as a serious topic. Do you?

Richard Davis, in an article titled "Is Internet Addiction Real?" lists the following symptoms:

1. Neglecting friends, family, and job or personal responsibilities,
2. Withdrawal when away from the Internet
3. Irritability when attempting to stop using the Internet
4. Staying online more than originally intended
5. Lying or concealing how much time one spends online
6. Drastic lifestyle changes in order to spend more time online
7. General decrease in physical activity
8. Disregard for one's health as a result of internet activity
9. Sleep deprivation or a change in sleep patterns in order to spend time on the net
10. Thinking about the Internet while offline
11. Anticipating future time online
12. Spending large of amounts of money on Internet time and other such expenses
13. Isolating oneself from friends, in favor of friends online
14. A sense of guilt about one's online use

I am on the internet alot but I dont believe its an addiction. If you make good money doing anything you are going to keep on doing it right? whether it is being on the internet or running a business.

so long as you dont revolve your whole life around it, its all schweet!

Hell yeah - my cable modem was down all day yesterday and it felt like my right arm was cut off..

I'm making money online instead of spending

I live in a little, one horse town.. well Hell.. there isn't even a horse!.. and I'm single. Sidewalks roll up at about 6pm.. Mostly retired farmers.. so it isn't really an addiction.. just the only option.. :)

I've begun to hate the internet.. I never get on when im at home just because im all internetted out by the end of the day

Everything but this one:

I dont think you can even remotely consider yourself a serious adult webmaster if you do not exhibit at LEAST 12 of those "symptoms".

Now, if you dont make any money and exhibit all of those, you are a loser.
