Well I got the bulbs yesterday in mail, got the filters and this weekend will play with it. If it works will be able to show you how to have a fluorescent setup for shooting for about $150.:) Stay tuned. Im tired of sweating my balls off with my lowels.lol

p.s. color temperature is the biggest issue here. get daylight balanced bulbs.

real kino flo's have a high output ballast so there's no flicker. there is flicker with the homemade version, so your shutter speed can't be too high. try 1/60th if you can. experiment and draw your own conclusions.

Actually...I've changed my mind and decided that I'll kick it here till first of the year and just commute to LA for shoots till then. Are you close to the fires?

What asa are you using with that Johnny? I wouldn't think it would be putt'n out too much light? Cool effect though :thumbsup

johnnyhey 09-30-2005 05:17 PM

i think 400 or so, they don't put out much light at all. it can be tricky, can't get a good full length shot out of them either :)
