Jones v. Tarver 3

Has Roy been training in Russia with Rocky?

Thats how he showed up to the press conference today. He has his father supporting him this time around and is supposedly back in top shape after getting knocked on his ass two fights in a row.

Who do you have your money on?

PixeLs 09-29-2005 09:41 PM

I don't like Tarver but I think he has a big chance of winning the fight.

MikeVega 09-29-2005 09:43 PM

I'm watching a special on HBO about the fight right now ... :thumbsup

Young 09-29-2005 09:46 PM

PiXels I'm a big Roy Jones Jr. fan but to tell you the truth I'm not too sure about his chances either.

Vega are they saying anything interesting? What channel? HBO?

Fetish 09-29-2005 09:46 PM

Jones is old and finished

just going over the history of each fighter ... it just ended ... one thing they said was that in many opinions Roy was knocked out twice two close to each other and that can cause a permanent problem that can cause the fighter to be knocked out easily after that .... doesn't sound good ... they say fighters that get that shouldn't fight again ... :Oh crap

Ya didn't the Boxing commission recommend that Roy be examined first before the fight becuase they are worried for his health? I hate to see that shit....reminds me of when Jordan came back for the second time with the Wizards and I watched him fall apart right in front of me :(

diggz 09-29-2005 10:17 PM

Roy was one of my top 3 favorite fighters of all time... BUT going up in weight and then trying to come back down in weight over the age of 30 was a BAD idea. He just doesn't have the stamina and bounce like he used to.

I hope he vindicates himself, but I wouldn't be my money on it. :2 cents:

Jones is a live underdog and is a good bet. Tarver does have some key advantages being his height and southpaw style. If Jones stays on the offensive and make Tarver have to counterpunch then he should be too fast but Tarver being a southpaw its hard for Jones to see the left coming so Tarver can land a lucky punch at anytime.

I will pick Jones, the live underdog to win.

ShaneRyale 09-29-2005 10:18 PM

Roy Jones Sr. is my neighbor and I can tell you that RJJ isn't taking this lightly. They have been training non-stop and he looks as good as he ever has. Tarver is good, but I have to go for my hometown boy and say Roy will pull it off!

Hey...everyone seems to forget that Roy Jones was dominating Tarver v. Jones 2 up until the knockout. The knockout punch was Tarver's only 3rd punch landed in that fight. Roy had landed 15 + I believe.

There is hope.

Spunky 09-29-2005 10:20 PM

Tarver in 5.. :thumbsup

Thats what i'm saying Young, Jones is a live underdog and has a good chance to win. If Tarver wasn't a southpaw then the odds should've been at least even but like I said, its hard to see the left coming from a southpaw cause 90% of everyone's opponents is right handed. All Tarver needs is to do is hit Jones once with the left but when you're fighting a southpaw you have to keep moving to the left to take away a southpaw's power so if Jones has been properly trained you should see Jones moving to his left to take away Tarver's power, if not then it could be a long night. :thumbsup

Vitasoy 09-29-2005 10:54 PM

Tarver is going to KO him in the 3rd.

jaYMan 09-29-2005 11:29 PM

Jones by decision will be the best fight.

diggz 09-29-2005 11:30 PM

Tarver will take Roy out in 8 - and hopefully during one of Roy's "showboat" sessions....
