Thumbnail & gallery creator...?

Can anyone point me in the direction of such a script?
Something that would make thumbnail out of the existing full size images and then (preferably) make up gallery pages for viewing. I need it for a members section management since lots of content I buy doesn't have thumbs, just a collection of full size photos.
Thanks in advance....

There are quite a lot of scripts that will make static galleries. The one I like best is Thumbnailer from SmallerAnimals.com - it's small and fast.

The problem with using static galleries, though, is that they are harder to keep track of if you need to make changes later on. Some people us CGI scripts like Image Folio (ImageFolio.com) where you can just dump the images and thumbs into a directory and it makes the pages dynamically.

Does anyone have a suggestions for a good PHP/MySQL paysite content management script? I haven't done too much research yet on upgrading to a PHP script, but I'd love to know what other people are using for dynamic content management when taking care of different media types (Pics, Vids, Stories, etc.)

The guy who created this contacted me yesterday... I haven't tried it yet, but it looks like some really good thumbnailing software.

I do this with ThumbsPlus, or if you wanted to do it on your server have a look at this script

Arles is pretty badass, I highly recommend it..

It builds your galleries, webpages, links the images and builds the thumbnails from a directory of images..

RaGe 02-27-2002 07:42 PM

The problem I had with Arles is that when you use a template, you tell it to place all the thumbs in one block. Like you can't display a couple rows of thumbs, a banner, then a couple more rows. When you put the variable in to display the thumbs, it puts them all in, in one big block.. so you can only put ads above and below it. I'd like to be able to tell it where to place every thumb, so I can customize a gallery a lot more..

I'm a die hard Arles user too...figured out a few javascript banner rotator scripts and can really crank them out fast now :)

for a paysite and massvie amounts of content, there are a few gallery generator programs, but for a total content managment solution, I highly recomend A-ConMan Software http://wwwa.conman.com

we're using it for all of our forthcoming DarkDollars sites.....it has a bit of a learning curve (for morons like me anyways) but once you get it rocking, nothing beats it...

http://www.hotscripts.com/ is a great place to start.

Anyone have any favorite all-in-one PHP/PERL adult content management apps? And is there a speed disadvantage using PHP over PERL?

Thanks for the suggestion. I have seen that script before, but wasn't sure if people are using it. You think it's worth the price then? (I found the real URL on Google, it's: a-conman.com) :)

sorry about the typo, yup it's http://www.a-conman.com

yup, we're using them and it's well worth the price...we've had no complaints (once we figured out how to make it do things ;)) It's probably not for the total novice, but with someone who at least has a working knowledge of html, etc. it's a huge timesaver....

arles, acdsee, thumbsplus, thumbnailer.. all require doing it by hand and then uploading it.

looking for something more of a server-side automatic manager

RaGe,

I used Arles a lot myself and found that to be the real limitation of the program. So i actually contacted digitaldutch and asked them about it. They replied and seem to indicate that the ability to lay out the thumbs anywhere in the gallery template is something they are working on for a future release! Can't wait. hehe.

:thumbsup

Hello, Image Catalog creator here. I don't usually hang out at these sites, but I checked the logs :Graucho

ImCat has had the capability to insert code in between the rows for a long time. And just yesterday I released version 4. We are talking subdirectory batches, image indexes, folder indexes, navigational menus anywhere on the page and up to three different kinds of menus at the same time. That's just the new features :helpme

http://www.moon1000.com/software/products/imcat.shtml

I hope you check it out, I need the input.
The file is only 1.7 MB.
