Reality Contest Show Concludes Production of Pilot Episode

New reality show completes its pilot episode.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) September 26, 2005 -- Producers for the super-tough reality show "The Ultimate, Ultimate Challenge" today celebrated the successful conclusion of their pilot episode. Filmed on a Caribbean island over two weeks, the show will soon be sent through post-production and shopped to cable networks in hopes of a full-season order.

The difficult final challenge on the show left one contestant bruised enough to forfeit the game, ending the production ahead of schedule. Though press reports greatly exaggerated the event, the injury was minor. The contestant was given immediate medical attention at a local hospital, and was released soon after.

Still, a tough challenge doesn't hurt the show's notoriety, as Executive Producer Kevin Blatt knows well. He created the concept of the Ultimate, Ultimate Challenge after spearheading the infamous Paris Hilton video that made her a household name. Jumping to reality TV from adult entertainment is a natural crossover, says Blatt, who expects major success with the show.

He credits reality TV producer Mark Burnett for his inspiration, calling him the Godfather of reality TV. As for the contestant injury, Blatt plans to use the dramatic final challenge uncut in the show's pilot episode for maximum effect, and pointed to Burnett's famous words: "Nothing changes. I'm not even going to make any edits because it's real."

After nationwide auditions during the summer, six contestants had been chosen to compete in "The Ultimate, Ultimate Challenge," which was billed as a brutal combination of "Survivor," "Fear Factor," and "Eco-Challenge." The winner's take was a cash prize of $5,000, and appearance in the show's full production season.

$5000 doesn't seem like much.

i give all the credit for reality t.v. to the creator and producer for COPS.

it was the first and still longest running reality show ever.

JOHN LANGLEY

(Creator and Executive Producer of COPS)

Producer/writer/director John Langley created Fox Broadcasting Company?s television series COPS in 1988. The long-running FBC reality program, currently entering its 18th season, pioneered the often emulated video verite format.

Also for television, Langley Productions has produced ANATOMY OF CRIME for Court TV, a series of 26 one-hour documentaries that takes viewers behind the scenes of the American legal system, and onto the streets ? providing a fast-paced look at the controversial issues and individuals in today?s justice system. Among the Company?s other credits are two seasons of the prime-time reality series CODE 3 for FBC, and the series COP FILES, hosted by Richard Roundtree. Langley also produced numerous specials for network and first-run syndication, including the two-hour live programs AMERICAN VICE, INNOCENCE LOST, SONS OF SCARFACE, DEVIL WORSHIP, MURDER: LIVE FROM DEATH ROW and MODERN LOVE. In addition, Langley produced the AMERICAN EXPOSE series of specials with Jack Anderson, including WHO KILLED JFK? and the inside look at terrorism, TARGET USA. Other specials include INSIDE THE KGB (NBC) and NIGHT PROWLERS (CBS). John Langley also produced and directed the multiple award-winning documentary COCAINE BLUES.

In 1995, Langley Films was established to create and produce independent theatrical motion pictures. The company has just completed production on TIPTOES, a quirky drama starring Matthew McConaughey, Kate Beckinsale, Gary Oldman and Patricia Arquette. Also recently completed are teen horror flick ?Reality Check,? and true crime story, ?Vampire Clan?. Previously, the Company developed and produced SEARCH & DESTROY with Martin Scorcese as executive producer and DOGWATCH, starring Sam Elliott, Esai Morales and Paul Sorvino, directed by John Langley. Also produced were WILD SIDE, an erotic thriller starring Anne Heche, Christopher Walken and Joan Chen; GUNFIGHTER?S MOON, a western, with Rysher Entertainment, and DEADLY SINS, a psychological thriller starring David Keith and Alyssa Milano.

Sounds good - but I have to agree that $5K sounds a bit mean after all the shit they went through. :)

WiredGuy 09-29-2005 10:23 AM

Whatever those contestants did, I hope it was worth it for only $5k and the chance for more once its signed to a network. Best of luck from here.

Is the 5k prize a typo KB, because is'nt fear factor like 50k, and survivor is a million $.

But that was just a "pilot" right? I wouldn't expect big bucks for a show that doesn't even have a deal yet. :2 cents:

I haven't been to the Blue Tattoo since my buddy Ed Heftel promoted Foam Dancing in that place and they had a Garlic themed restaurant upstairs-

What's the club called?
I'll definitely make it down there- but my girl lost her ID so it makes things tough for her
:-((

We paid all expenses - or just their flights-
they lived in primitive conditions and had to fend for themselves food wise and shelter wise on the island

Its now called "Faces",go to the DMV and get her a new ID man. I got myself a 22 year old GF right now and she lost her ID too. I told her to get her shit together so we can hit the town.

I am sure the pilot will be crazy, you should of shot pics of the girls changing in the bathroom and stuff and made it super controversial so it gets picked up. I want to do a show called "Truth", you go up to people and just tell them the real truth about what you see.

"Babe, your ass looks huge in those pants"
"Dude, we all know you are losing your hair, the ball cap does'nt fool us"
"Honey, you need to go back to the doctor and get those boobs fixed"
"Yo man, that shirt is way to tight"
"Two words, ORAL HYGIENE"

It would be crazy, lol :1orglaugh

My girl is 21 going on 12
:-))

We went to the Jumping Turtle last night and witnessed one of the best bar brawls I have seen in my lifetime
Three people knocked unconscious- and the security put one to sleep on the pavement

all happened in front of my eyes- my girl was so pumped up afterwards it made her all wet.

I told her ten minutes before the scrap went down that we should get out of there but we went to go see DJ SupaMario
Remember his ass from the PB days?

Man what drama last night- I still have blood all over my car

gdog 09-29-2005 11:54 AM

Oh hell yeah, Super Mario, a name from the past for sure. I remember him from the block party days in PB. I guess I will see you and your girl after the 12th my man downtown.

IDEA: Get Dirty Danza on there. Then without telling him, bring on Kimbo and have the two fight. The end "reality"...either Kimbo kicks Danza's ass, or Dirty-DS wins and then you withhold his money since he owes you and D-Money - it's a win-win for you and sure to be entertaining for all.

Good luck with the show bro...

Great hype but I think many would say that Alan Funt is widely credited as the originator of reality tv with "candid camera".

If D and I don't recieve our wires from Danza this week we'll have a better TV show idea in mind-
It's loosely based off an Idea I had to chase down deadbeat dads.
