I found a good way to lose weight without losing your mind...

work out with weights 5 days a week
eat good 6 days a week
pig out and do nothing 1 day a week.

That way, you only have to wait 6 days (at the longest) to endulge.

My lazy pig day is: Monday's

BradM 09-28-2005 04:08 PM

This diet has been used for years. It works.... what works even better is no pig-out days.

Basically body for life in the works there, that is what he preaches.

I agree, it does work...and after a while, you WANT to work out.

Tat2Jr 09-28-2005 04:17 PM

Smoking a pack or two of cigarettes a day really helps too, and I have models who swear by the crank diet, but most of them ARE losing their minds.

Babagirls 09-28-2005 04:18 PM

i wasnt buring off nearly as many calories as i was taking in daily so i walk in the morning for 30 mins BEFORE breakfast (to burn off stored fat) and replaced my cereal with a fruit smoothie and make eggs & wheat toast & keep sipping on the smoothie till lunch time then i have 1 grilled cheese sandwhich (fat free cheese, wheat bread) and a celery stick with peanut butter on it (for protein) with lemon-water. then i have a smoothie till dinner time....small dinner portions..then popcorn for a snack with lemon water.

dropping the weight like crazy since i started this plan. oh, and i do 20 mins of toning after my 30 min walk/jog/run.

Im cool with most of that but I draw the line at fat free cheese. I would find a way to remove fat elsewhere before I went down that soulless road.

I have a book coming out soon. You can preorder it on Amazon. It's called "The Marlboro Reds Diet".

myjah 09-28-2005 05:32 PM

I like the idea of one day to eat whatever you want but I'd have a hard time getting back on track the next day.

[illnet]-Tracie 09-28-2005 05:38 PM

the easiest way is to have a routine...no routine, makes it a chaotic mess!

Matt 26z 09-28-2005 05:38 PM

I weigh around 135 pounds. Here's an example of a typical day for me...

Breakfast: Two bowls of cornflakes.

Lunch: Plain scrambled egg sandwich (2 eggs), chips.

Dinner: Microwave mac&cheese, slice of pizza, one slice of buttered bread, chips.

Other things: Two chocolate chip cookies, 4 crackers with cheese and a couple pieces of candy.

I drink nothing but water. I'll have one glass of OJ with one or two of my meals though.

good.

but you will see more progress (and better overall health) if you plug in more fruits and vegetables for snacks. a whole grapefruit eaten like a peeled orange is very good and filling and low cal. (red grapefruit only).

too much bread is delaying progress IMO. substitute nuts (raw almonds, raw brazil nuts) for the cheese, substitute one hard boiled egg, raw peanut butter only (smuckers has a good one) whey protein shakes instead of smoothies, etc.

read your labels, remember limit sugars, trans fats, high fructose corn syrup, saturated fat (nuts are ok, as these are good fats and add fiber.)

suggest adding some meat like chicken or fish. canned tuna on that bread is better for you than the cheese on bread.

take your calcium, vitamin C, and multivitamins like religion, especially when you are on any "special diet".

if you are male over 40 get 320mg saw palmetto daily for your prostate.

keep it going. it's a lifestyle thing and the younger you start the longer you live, and the better you live.

your post count actually represents the amount of calories you lost.

beemk 09-29-2005 01:51 AM

just dont buy junk food, if you dont buy it you wont eat it.

Lykos 09-29-2005 03:45 AM

Just do some sport and u wont have any problems with weight

pradaboy 09-29-2005 05:45 AM

Working out 5x a week will burn out your energy system in no time. You need 48 hours of rest between weight workouts, that's when your muscles grow!

Ace-wtf 09-29-2005 05:46 AM

yep it can work

just need to eat moderately

BIGTYMER 09-29-2005 05:54 AM

Crash diet man! ;)

sexyclicks 09-29-2005 05:56 AM

try that: Sex Diet

ServerGenius 09-29-2005 07:14 AM

The 1 day pigout works actually better than 7 days around diet. Your body
will work resist that 1 day....and speed up metabolism more than usual to
digest the "weird" food. Also eat every 3 hours small portions instead of
3 big meals a day.

As snacks use any unsalted nuts or my favorite frozen fruit...like all kinds of
berries they taste like sweets and contain loads of vitamin. Stick to fish,
chicken or low fat beef.....no complex carbs and loads of fibers.
Any kind of beans are very good....don't cook your veggies to long so they
stay crispy....or stir frie them in a few drops of olive oil.....squeeze a bit of
lemon juice over it.....it generates steam and makes it tastier and the veggies
are done faster because of the hot steam.

drink loads of water.....if you don't like the taste...squeeze some lemon or lime
in it...to give it some taste.....the hungry feeling is often not hunger for but thirst..

This works great for me.....and of course exercise....walk instead of taking
the car....especially on short distances....I have as a rule if it's less than 2
miles...I walk instead of taking the car. Take stairs instead of elevators...
it's just a matter of breaking the habit....once you're used to it...you don't
even notice it anymore....I was just used taking the car or elevator by
default....it's a habit...not because you get tired.

:2 cents:

More Booze 09-29-2005 07:17 AM

My diet that works.

Dont eat more than 1600 calories 5 days a week.
Eat whatever you want 2 days a week.

ServerGenius 09-29-2005 07:19 AM

The 1 day pigout also gives you something to look out for....and makes it easier
to stay with the program....until you reach the point you don't even want the
other food no more..... :thumbsup

Sounds like a good plan. I used to be a fit mofo but these last few years sat at the pc have turned me a little soft. How many hours a day do you work out?

EroticySteve 09-29-2005 09:08 AM

I did Body for Life a few years ago and got cut up. It was a great program. But I fell off the wagon. I love me some food. And being good for six days in a row is tough.

I'm still in the beginning stages. I work out upper and lower 5 days a week , but not too hard... just enough to burn both arms, chest and legs.

I feel much better. The PC made me soft too.

Raven 09-29-2005 12:41 PM

I have a trainer who beats me up three days a week...and I cardio five days a week....sometimes six.

I'm on a pretty strict nutritional program; but, it's custom made for me and the foods I eat. I'm pretty picky about eating food that isn't real. I won't eat anything with aspartame or splenda and I hate non fat anything.

I recently found out that you CAN whack yourself out if your nutrition lacks some fat.....since I've recently become homicidal with the people at my gym...my diet is now being recreated with a slight increase in fat.....

I don't cheat as often as I did before. I was doing the once a week 'eat something different'...but then I hit a weight loss plateau...so, now we change up my cardio and my diet.....we always change the weight/resistance training, so my body doesn't have a chance to adapt.

HammerALL 09-29-2005 02:00 PM

Gotta try this gym thing at some point

deanster 09-30-2005 05:10 AM

Computers and beer just don't seem to be the winning combination for me. Up 30 pounds in 2 years, and not in a sexy, muscle bound way :)

~Ray 09-30-2005 01:16 PM

my legs felt much better after only 5 days of weights... not heavy weights either.

Doctor Dre 09-30-2005 01:21 PM

I don't pig out but there are 2 days in the week where I allow myself some poutine ;P lol

Ha! That's just what I smoke when I first start up again. Once I'm on the diet full time, I got with the Reds.... although I do love the flavor of the Winston Reds, but not enough chemicals, so I'll stick with the Marlboros! I've never had enough hair on my balls for pall malls or filterless camels though. :1orglaugh

Azlord 10-02-2005 12:59 AM

whatever keeps you sane. I don't know about using weights that much and losing weight. You will put on muscle which is good weight.
Losing entirely would mean doing hard cardio 5 times a week.

Young 10-02-2005 01:25 AM

Wanna lose weight? Simple.

Do more of an activity than you usually do.

Eat 1 (portion, lb, oz, servings) less than what you usually eat.

Repeat for added effect.

emthree 10-02-2005 03:01 AM

Weights dont really help you loose loose weight, it just turns it into muscle mass.
What type of lifting are you doing?

You are right.. I'm doing medium weights... about 10 reps X 3 sets... 2 upper body sets and 2 lower body sets per day. 5 days a week.

It is burning fat great as muscle is the sworn enemy of fat. So I'm re-shaping more than losing weight.

Luckily I'm in pretty good shape, I gotta watch out though to not let the computer soften me up too much

Raven 10-02-2005 10:02 AM

With all the research I'm doing, it seems there needs to be a balance between nutrition, resistance training and weight training, to achieve the desired results.

I just know that seven years of sitting behind this desk hurt me. Badly. Now, the only pain I feel is that delicious workout burn.

true. it hurts all of us that sit behind a computer monitor many hours/day.

webmasters in particular, should realize that they must have some cardio exercise (not just resistance) for optimum health.
