Got a new car project to work on

sorry, no S500's here, or Lambo's, or Ferrari's...

beemk 09-28-2005 03:08 PM

you think its worth your time? looks like a lot of work for the $1,000 you might make off of it.

FrankWhite 09-28-2005 03:09 PM

wtf can you possible do to this car to make it look good ? replace it with a new one ?

asuna 09-28-2005 03:12 PM

keep itaround as a beater, costs a lot less to learn on your own than shelling out 4g's for mechanc's course, I lvoe playing around with bikes and cars, so it's just a pastime for me

the Shemp 09-28-2005 03:16 PM

i'll mention to your boss that you need a raise...

asuna 09-28-2005 03:34 PM

Heh Shemp, no need, this is just a toy I picked up to fool around with, I already have my own means of transportation!

asuna 09-28-2005 03:35 PM

got a 70cc scooter running with some C12 also in the garage

iwantchixx 09-28-2005 05:24 PM

nothign wrong with a car like that. reliable :)

But I must admit, that is the ONLY time I ever saw one of them on a tow truck.

Dalai lama 09-28-2005 05:27 PM

I'd like to see it when it's finished.

BradM 09-28-2005 05:29 PM

That car has a serious case of "Bonjour Syndrome". Should have gone for an English Honda. This one is going to be an asshole I can tell.

sonofsam 09-28-2005 05:45 PM

Nice buddy, project cars are fun.. please make it a sleeper... and not riced out

Spunky 09-28-2005 05:46 PM

Looks like that will keep you busy for quite awhile

Vitasoy 09-28-2005 06:55 PM

Let us know if/when you fix that up :)

asuna 09-28-2005 07:26 PM

not bad, chances are the engine was jsut heavily flooded, gas goes into the injectors no problems, just doesn't want to turn over, last time we jsut tried it was making small small backfires, so came home to pick up a hair dryer and try to dry out all the condensation otta there

asuna 09-28-2005 09:06 PM

spent 15min per cylinder and no luck, it had a little more 'umph' to it, so letting it dry open overnight and giving it another shoit tomorrow!

munki 09-28-2005 09:16 PM

Looks like a fun little project. I wouldn't expect a lot of the people in this message board to understand an actual mod project car. Everyone hear is into the price tag of thier vehicle. Modders like us see value in hours spent and originality of a final product, it's an actual hobby. I just finished airbrushing my lil bro's back window on his S10, got his sounds and exhaust all kicking this week. Suspension, body and final paint next month. Can't wait to see your finished project.

asuna 09-29-2005 04:17 AM

I wouldn't say I'm a modder, more of a learner, it still has the stock d15b7 egnine, which will probably stay, basically just want to be able to say oh we got the car started again, and learn how to play with fiberglass and bondo and paint

Ace-wtf 09-29-2005 04:24 AM

nothing like working with your hands

Evidently not too reliable.

Dude why would you do this???? Your crazy but good luck anyways.

asuna 09-29-2005 04:33 AM

It's a past time, some people go clubbing, some peopel do drugs, some people play sports, I play around with cars

Pete-KT 09-29-2005 04:34 AM

good luck with it

KickassMan 09-29-2005 04:38 AM

kickass car you got there. well, technically its not kickass yet. lol
92-95 civics are the best cars to import tune. there are endless possibilities.

stuff it up with a B18c or K20a then turbo and youll end up smoking almost every stock supercar :)

nice choice man. needs a lot of work though.

asuna 09-29-2005 01:13 PM

got the car running for about 3 seconds today, but now the battery and the boosterpack is head, so going to be using a real 120v booster tonightq

asuna 09-30-2005 01:59 AM

Sweet Swet music to my ears, we got it started today! the battery and boosterpack are shot, so I took my battery out of the car and used it, cranked it for about 25 seconds and it came alive, wasn't too loud without a muffler, shot some intake cleaner, put a little too much and it stalled the engine, waited about 5 minutes and restarted it and it turned over like a charm!

now took off the back wheels to check out the brakes since the ones in front are new, so needs new pads in the back, $25, another muffler, about $35, not too bad for a $400 car

munki 09-30-2005 02:11 AM

Good times!!

cranki 09-30-2005 02:12 AM

I like the supersoaker50 in your garage... it's oldschool! :thumbsup

emthree 09-30-2005 02:13 AM

I guess calling it a project car justifys owning it. Honestly I dont even think it's worth the $100 towing fee. But props if you get that back on the road looking propper. (No rice)

ServerGenius 09-30-2005 02:33 AM

:thumbsup nice project....the best ones are from which everybody says...
don't do it.....it's not worth it....or it won't work..

DutchTeenCash 09-30-2005 02:36 AM

thats gonna cost you more then its worth for sure

Classic's never die, it still works

and as for the car not being worth $100, I don't understand why people say that
the car runs, new brakes, new muffler, the engines turns over like a charm nowa couple of rust spots here and there, no rust 'holes', a good sanding job, bondo and some new paint, I've seen worse cars sold for a lot more

asuna 10-02-2005 03:33 PM

bump!

Got msot of the mechanic's done, sanding down the body to bare metal and prepping it for primer for tuesday

tony286 10-02-2005 03:35 PM

looks like a fun project. Restoring a car must be very rewarding.

asuna 10-02-2005 03:37 PM

Yep, something to do to pass the time, altho I might not even keep the hood, the front end is realllly bad, might pick up another hood, but use to save this one to practice bondoing

Vitasoy 10-02-2005 03:50 PM

Sounds like everything is going into place :)

BV 10-02-2005 03:57 PM

I've been thinking of finding an older car and getting back into it. It is very rewarding.

I was a maniac with the shit a loooong time ago, starting in highschool.

I was into Fords back then.

Took a 78 F-150 4x4 chasis and put a 52 cab on it. Later on completely rebuilt the engine with extensive mods when I worked in a machine shop. Even sent it off and had it balanced.

After that I did a frame off restoration on mint 1970 Bronco I picked up real cheap. Replaced all the wearable parts, everything, down to the leaf & coil springs, all ujoints and entire brake system including the lines. I ran a machine shop at this point and it was connected to a parts store. :-)

After that I started a 66 Fairlane. Picked up a BigBlock for it, punched it out .030" and put a radical Crane cam with all the other goodies. It never made the street.

asuna 10-03-2005 03:01 PM

sad never made the streets, I don't have enoguh know how on how to restore a wholew car unfortunately, I'd love to get a nice muscle car to fix up

Semi-Retired-Dave 10-03-2005 03:31 PM

Dude, that engine can use some WD-40. Then it's good to go for another 150,000 miles.

asuna 10-03-2005 03:45 PM

the engine still works, 300K km's on it however, if it decides to die, jsut going to swap it out for something a little more powerful, prehaps an acura engine, b18 something, ~140hp, i don't need a race car

VHNet 10-03-2005 03:45 PM

That car's got more rust on it than Angelina Jolee's vagina.
