I liked it in need for speed ;)

buddyjuf 09-27-2005 06:29 AM

looks like a hotwheel!

Violetta 09-27-2005 06:30 AM

I think its ugly, but thats just my humble opinion!

Manowar 09-27-2005 06:33 AM

looks smooth

Machete_ 09-27-2005 06:33 AM

Its the best trackcar "outofthe" box under one 400k. On a dry track it will outrun most other cars. But PLEASE get it in silver

Number1Thumb 09-27-2005 06:33 AM

ugly as sin

cranki 09-27-2005 06:38 AM

tgpshack 09-27-2005 06:38 AM

I drove one round a racetrack at a corporate motorsport day a couple of years ago. Its like a jet powered rollerskate. When I got out I said to the instructor 'if this thing could cook I'd marry it'. Its a DRIVER'S car. awesome.

i like i like, how does it corner?

Minte 09-27-2005 06:52 AM

I got an opportunity to drive one 2 weeks ago. It's a tough car to get into and very tight once you make it.But...on the open road it's amazing to drive. The owner of the car insisted I take it out and after warming it up good that I had to run it up over 6,000 rpms where the afterburners :) kick in.
Probably the best totally nonpractical car on the market.

MacDaddyPlaya 09-27-2005 06:54 AM

It's one of my favorites in Midnight Club Dub Edition!

tgpshack 09-27-2005 06:56 AM

This is not a car you are going to take to a nice restaurant. You have to get in and out just like you would a racecar. Also, you aren't taking it to the store for any shopping. There is about enough room for a bottle of wine in the front trunk. This car was designed for one thing only... FUN

Yeah I figured it was only for fun. It'll be my 4th car so it isn't like the car I would drive everywhere I go everyday.

MikeVega 09-27-2005 07:23 AM

Guy up the block from me has one ... looks like fun and sounds great. I only see him driving it on on weekends and in the summer .. so i assume it's not an everyday driver but i guess it could be .. :thumbsup

sorry no, the 120hp version wont of course, but the pimped version will:

http://www.allsportauto.com/photoaut...exige_05_m.jpg

400hp and 850kg, and it has an extremely low centre of gravity this thing can really corner. it wont take a gt2 in straight line speed of course but it will thrash it in the corners :)

I had one of these when they were still made by Lotus (and sold as kit cars to save tax). Mine had a Cosworth 1500 engine and it was an amazing drive because the car was so light and the handling near perfect. Good to see the SS is still being made, more than 40 years since it first appeared.

BTW BBC America ran a few episodes of "The Prisoner" last night... anyone remember that series?

I've had my Gallardo one week today..and I already have over 400 miles on it.
It's everything I had hoped it would be.

ajrocks 09-27-2005 08:03 AM

Its an amazing car, everything I've read about it has been great! I wish they sold them in the US. As far as I know they don't.

It's all about power to weight :) I believe the new US spec model makes 190hp and still weighs under 2000 lbs... There are not a lot of cars on the market that weigh that little nowadays, even the newer Miatas weigh closer to 2500 lbs. Think about it this way, at close to 200hp and 2000lbs, a larger sedan, like your average 3 series at 3400lbs, would need 340hp to match it in acceleration.

Then add in the fact that a lighter car will always turn and brake better than a heavier car with the same equipment, and you start to get the idea...

Personally I've always been in love with the older model... 118hp and 1600lbs...

impressive car :thumbsup

loverboy 09-27-2005 02:16 PM

not really for the big boys

:smokin

Just_Dave 09-27-2005 02:17 PM

thats a cool car

Tylo 09-27-2005 02:25 PM

Your specs are all fucked up, the car comes stock with 190hp and its 1900 lbs.. Turbo this thing and it will be crazy fast.. Been thinking about getting one for a while now. Only have a few things stopping me from doing so..

1 the ac sucks in this car
2 its really hard to get in and out of

but for the money I can say its worth every penny.. Its a pure dream to drive.

hmmwv 09-27-2005 04:01 PM

itīs a nice car.
it have driven an opel speedster turbo once (same base as the elise) with 200hp. lots of fun! :thumbsup
but at 240km/h you better put the hardtop on, itīs fucking loud!

Lee 09-27-2005 04:09 PM

Have you looked at the Exige? Thats more geared to hardcore driving.

rezdesign 09-27-2005 04:29 PM

TOYOTA ENGINE :thumbsup :winkwink:

warlock5 09-27-2005 04:40 PM

Wow, this thread makes me want to go out and buy one! Its amusing how different the opinions of cars are between people who have and haven't driven them.

RogerV 09-27-2005 04:41 PM

I want one might have to test drive.. what are they going for?

Michaelious 09-27-2005 04:58 PM

Very sporty dude!

tranza 09-27-2005 05:49 PM

honestly..yeah, it's very cool!

quiet 09-27-2005 05:52 PM

the elise is a fucking amazing sports car. not a daily driver, but purpose built for speed.

Naia 09-27-2005 06:09 PM

aiken has one, and man it is a blast. Plus, we actually did along fine with it when we first moved to HI... it was our only car for about 3 weeks. The trunk (which is actually in the back) can fit about 4-5 bags of groceries... You just don't want to put anything that needs to be cold back there -- it gets fucking hot!

As for looking like a fool getting in and out... well... yes... that takes some getting used to. We get a lot of attention anywhere we go in the thing, because it's so pretty... but this one time we parked somewhere and this guy driving by literally stopped his car, pointed at us with outstretched arms, and started cracking-the-fuck-up while watching us trying to get out of the car.

Urgh... but he was driving a beat up old shit bucket, so go figure ;)

Anyway... I LOVE this car!
