Would you hire a programmer that also owns similar sites as you?

Or you just don't care whether or not they may use your script on their sites that you paid them for!

I would prefer a programmer who owned similar sites to me, cuz then they'd know exactly what to do.

As far as them using the programs on his site, just state in the contract that he/she can't use it, or get a cheaper rate if they intend to use it also.

I don't care.
I've paid for 'customization' for some certain scripts and paid $100's, if not $1000's for that..and then they offer the same features a few updates later in their own script for everyone.
I'm cool with that, as long as I get what I want, I don't care if others do too.
Maybe I'm too nice. :)

If they programmed it, why not? That's being kind of anal.

Because you want a lead over your competitors. Plus, if you didn't bring it to his/her attention, he/she wouldn't have thought of it.;)

Maybe THAT's why my competition (all other affiliate site owners) are rich and I'm poor. shit.

u-Bob 09-26-2005 06:22 PM

just make sure you have a decent contract.

Enforcing a contract is not so easy when the person is not in the same country as you are.

V_RocKs 09-26-2005 10:20 PM

I don't go for that shit and it is why I write 99% of my shit myself.

dont sign contracts with people you cant enforce them with :) :thumbsup

If they are in the same area as you , they aren't going to sign a non-disclosure no-competition contract until they have heard the idea ( thus its too late )

Doctor Dre 09-26-2005 10:25 PM

They'd know what to do ... but at the same time, they can copy your stuff ... depending on the project, if it haven't been done before, I'd say ... don't.

SmokeyTheBear 09-26-2005 10:25 PM

in a perfect world you wouldnt have to worry but this isnt. i'd be wary of all those ppl who say they'll do any script for $50 etc, and rather deal with a company with a history so they have a bit more at stake. i've heard too many nasty stories about solo ppl screwing their employers once things go sour in the first year..
