I am looking at getting a merchant account and refuse to pay a confiscatory rate for it
these guys have a reasonable rate and all but I dont want to give out all the info they are asking for without knowing anything about them sending voided checks and supplying my SSN are red flags but I also understand that they could have a legit need for this info

I'm not familiar with that company but I'm very familiar with merchant accounts and their requirements. Its standard procedure to request those types of documents but always make sure they have legal, binding non-disclosure agreements in place to protect your private and business information.
