Have you ever been part of an Intervention?
 

If so, how did it make you feel. Even though you weren't the person who was the focus of the intervention, did it make you feel like you were attacking the person or did you feel like you were helping more than you were making them feel like shit?

Is there even any medical evidence that interventions even work 10% of the time? I doubt it. And the answer to your question for me is I felt both ways.

its creepy because you are dragged into the shithole life of someone else. someone who should be able to buck it up and realize that they went to far. it flies in the face of "survival of the fittest". instead of killing or eating the weak and helpless, a group of dominants get together and try to help the helpless into being a strong dominant. i felt like i was helping somoene who didn't want to be helped and was just happy to be feeding the addictions that caused the intervention. if i didn't deeply care about the person involved i would have chosen to not try to help. a creepy thing interventions are. just wanted to see if others here have experienced something like it.

i've been part of an intervention, and it did work. however, at the time i felt awkward and guilty.

If it gets the person to go to rehab...its worth it. It never feels good and you feel bad for teaming up but the end result is what counts. Remember that addicts romanticize the drug of choice so they dont hear everything or much most of the time. You are trying to show them how what they do has affected you in the hope of getting them to see the light of day and take a minute to actually think about the consequences.

it was with my sister. my mother thought she needed to get her life straight by sending her to a place where they take teens & house them & give them counsling in order to have a room there.

anyways, as much as i loved my sister, i was the person that she could always count on and talk to. and when she found out that i was part of the intervention, the look she gave me just killed me...like a "what the...you're part of this?" kinda look on her face. even though i KNEW it was the right thing to do, it was hard as hell.
