call me a geek, but i've always loved communications... i, in bangkok, just put my lil bro in seattle, mom in florida, and dad in NYC on a conference call for a werid lil family reunion.... ya, i know you can do conferences with regular phones too, but i just did this thru my laptop, thru skype, and it cost about 6 cents a minute total... imagine the cost of a real landline conference to those locations? haha anyhow, thought id share my nifty moment with you fuckers...

4mbps... but it acts more like a 1.3mbps.... also, im on the other side of the world so imagine, every USA webpage i load, is like when you USA folk try to load a .nl webpage, same speed =(

Can you phonecall them through your computer ? or they gotta have skype too ?

u can call thru computer to any number in the world... also u can buy your own incoming number, in any area code in the USA (and other countries i think), and anyone can call the number and it rings at your computer... if you're not at your computer you can redirect it to your mobile or whatever.... skype rules..

I am liking Skype a lot to I'm out in no GSM roaming or landline country atm but I have a shared ISDN connection so I am online just about. I got a USB skype phone I been calling my sister in US and UK on it works great even on this shitty connect and its cheap!

too bad ebay is about to buy skype... :(

I'm in Bangkok and use a vonage line. The quality is perfect as well. I like Skype too.

the last three times I called Bulgaria from South Africa the quality was so bad that I couldn't talk at all, had to use regular line, but I wouldn't be surprised if the South African Telkom does something like port shaping or whatever to fuck up Skype in order to prevent people from using it

not to call outside lines... SkypeOut is their service that allows you to call landlines or cellphones worldwide for a nominal fee, like to most big countries its under 3 cents per minute.

SkypeIn is their service that allows you to have a regular phone number, anywhere, that people can call like a regular phone, and it will terminate at your PC.. If you are away from your PC you can set Skype to FWD calls to your mobile or wherever...
