Green Day has sadly sold out to the pre-teen cheese rock circuit

All Billie Joe could think to do is yell "SAN FRANCISCO" about a dozen times through the show when he needed a mandatory crowd roar.

After seeing him through the years at places like the Fillmore, it was a sad sight to see that they have totally gone commerical.

if a band goes commercial/sells out it means only one thing:

Trade every 10 pathetic cheap useless fans that took us way too serious in for 100 that actually buy records and makes us rich.

Think about that.

PlugRush Sascha 09-25-2005 04:26 AM

Red team, GO! Just let them make their money. Boo hoo if you don't like their new music.

dunefield 09-25-2005 04:27 AM

Just means they have more groupies now...

Right on the button.

Manowar 09-25-2005 04:38 AM

more $$$ for them

munki 09-25-2005 04:41 AM

Haven't they done this a few times already? Keep in mind how long they've been around, since the east bay hardcore scene early 80's. The first big sell out was mid 90's, followed up by the millenium sellout, now the new generation reinvention. Still a great band though, and more power to them for doing what any decently talented and professional person would do, always look to bigger and better things.

As Green Day they've been around since 1990, all of the members collectively, and seperately were all a part of bands that helped form the East Bay Scene.

MerlinK 09-25-2005 09:59 PM

Sosa 09-25-2005 09:59 PM

Green Day's been accused of selling out ever since they signed with reprise records and released dookie in 1994,

doesn't matter to me- they fucking rock and i've seen them live more times than any other band

you just answered the question, when people who do not listen to the music start listening to a single band from that genre it means they have sold out,

basically POP now.

just like rap 90% of new "rap" isnt rap its POP.

split_joel 09-25-2005 10:39 PM

if u knew anything about greenday they have been doing that ever since they started im seeing them on the 2nd

You can't sell out when you're cheese pop from day one.

sleazybunny 09-26-2005 08:23 AM

..early stuff was good...and they "performed" on stage..the spitting at each other...pretty good fun

..now they are still ok...but when the "performance" on stage includes getting the crowd to get their lighters out and wave them in the air, i nearly puked and had to slap myself to see if i really was at a Green Day concert. Sad day in their history ...and it wasn't even ironic.... :disgust

I.

Welcome to 1994.

Other things that were news in 1994.

Kurt Cobain died.

candyflip 09-26-2005 08:40 AM

They still wish they were as cool as NOFX.
