According to the story Bin Laden is down to his last 10 henchmen protectors and is in Afghanistan holed up. Pakistani official says he's no longer effective.

Pakistan needs to do this kind of propaganda to the U.S.

To show them they are fighting the war on terror. But in fact, they are doing nothing. Musharraf is doing this to remain in power. If he really attacked terrorists, the extremists in Pakistan would skin him alive. He's stuck in the middle.

Ineffective is a word not allied with bin Laden much - he's been more than "effective" so far and continues to be in Iraq this morning. Little doubt he'll l continue to be "effective" long after he has gone - the damage is done.

They need someone to shake their fist at and blame for all their problems. If they catch him they will need to find another scapegoat.
