Gordon Ramsay "Hell`s Kitchen" Is he popular in the U.S?

The American Hell`s Kitchen with Ramsay...currently showing on UK satellite.

Who thinks he`s great and who thinks he`s a bully boy? :1orglaugh

I have to laugh how the contestants appear genuinelly terrified when he rips into them.

Addictive TV.

U.S audience figures would suggest otherwise.

Any restaurant with tablecloths and without girls on sneakers qualifies.

There are many many other restaurants in the UK that are a lot better. But yes there will always be ppl who love to pay. Its the same with everything. Check in the Ritz, see the rooms. They suck too. Small old smelly. But everyone wants to be there.

I thought it was a pretty good show. I went to college with guys that were in the culinary arts and they were pretty passionate about it.

Much of what you say is probably correct but he certainly isn`t a "wannabe chef"

He`s had huge success in his field which most people would agree with regardless of whether they think he is a prick or not.

..he's a unique man. Very good motivator. The series he did here where he went to restaurants for 2 weeks that were pissing away money and had no customers was very good. He knows his business. Aparently someones studied his management technique and once you get past the swearing etc (par for the course in any kitchen ...any food sent out of it reflects on the head chef's reputation, so he's gonna want it to be perfect!) he has a very good method of engaging every one in a "story" of the success that can be achieved by the "actors" (the staff). He involves them all and shows them where it could or could not lead to. Interesting stuff.

As to his food....would have a clue what its like.

I.

I still remember something from an earlier show/series which featured his restaurant... he did a public presentation to promote a certain type of apple, then immediately afterwards he admitted (to the camera) that he didn't even use them! He was paid 5000 pounds for the fraudulent presentation. :winkwink:

I loved Hell's Kitchen and am glad it got renewed for another season! Looking forward to seeing him tear down a few more self-important executive chefs :)

I watched about 10 minutes and it looked completely scripted and full of actors, so I stopped watching.
