Thank you ...

I am posting this letter of thanks to kill several birds with one stone.

Late friday night, my son had a severe asthma attack and was admitted overnight to the hospital. He was released at 10:00am Saturday. Saturday afternoon at about 4:10pm, he went totally LIMP as his air passages were swollen shut. He was re-admitted to the hospital, and stayed there until 1:00pm today. I stayed by his bedside the entire time, and for about 2½ hours Saturday afternoon he was VERY CRITICAL .... the doctors started telling us, "We are doing everything we can for him, at this point."

With that ... I just lost it !! I asked WTF they meant by that, and they kept giving us vague, not saying very much answers ...

Well he is now at home, and is still wheezing heavily, but is breathing on his own now ...

I turned on my ICQ this afternoon to find it "lit up like a Chrismas tree" with people wondering what was the matter, why I had not been online all weekend, as wel as well wishes from the few people who were aware of his condition.

Having a child this gravely ill is as scary as fuck !! All I can say is a HUGE thank-you from the deepest part of my heart to all who lent their support to Sonia and I in our hour of need, and those who were concerned at my absence online ...

It really means alot to us, knowing that so many people (most of whom we have never met face-to-face) care.

Thank You
Paul and Sonia

Paulo,I just hear it for first time, I'm glad your son is good and at home now with you and Sonia. Take care

Hope your son is getting better.
Spent three days and nights in the hospital two weekends ago.
eva was giving birth to Victoria and three days in labour.
Nothing like your experience but this kind of thing brings you "down to earth" very quickly.
Best wishes to you and your son, how old is he?

kmanrox 02-25-2002 02:06 PM

Thanks guys ... people do not realize how much the support means until they actually find themselves in a position such as this ... I feel really good about working with such a great bunch of people ...

The way webmasters band together for one another is something that many other people could take lessons from ...

BTW Paul ... Vardaan is 6 years old.

Oh my GOD............. you must have been horrified. I have 3 kids who have Asthma and I know how horrified I'd get with every attack. Two of them seem to have "grown out of it" as the Doc calls it, but they say it come back at anytime because it never goes away, just lies dormant, the other has the Adolescent onset of Asthma, which isn't going to "go away", so we have been where you are many many times. We spent ALOT of time in and out of Emergency rooms and such when these two were babies. I am happy to hear he is ok, but I also can feel where your heart has been...........

If there is ANYTHING I can do babe, please don't hesitate to let me know, you know where I am. Mine have never been THIS ill with it, but I do know the fears you have, breathing problems are probably the most horrifying of all when they are so young. To me anyways.

holy shit. Im shocked.
I hope all is well.
It was a asthma attack?

I hope they are giving him something?
Take him to a asthma specialist. The ER people rarely know much about these conditons.

Not to sound arrogant, but the Canidian health care system scares me. It really does.

Take him to a specialist. Get some steriod inhalalers even if you have to pay cash for them. There are some excellent ones out there, but your government doesnt want to pay the expensive prices associated with them.

My wife is Doctor in Pharmacy and Im a former Public Health administrator call me bro, maybe we can reconmend some stuff for you.

I hope all is well.
Damn, that is just scarry.

I feel for you Paul, I've been hospitalized for athsma on a few occasions, not for many years now but I can still remember how frightening it was. As scared as I was, it was a billion times harder on my mother who could do nothing but hold my shaking hand and ask the doctors if I was okay.
I'm happy to hear that Vardaan is doing better. Be sure to have an oxygen tank on hand at home and that he never goes ANYWHERE without an inhaler, okay? And I hope to God no one in your household smokes, for everyone's sake.
