MOST "Top 40" performers lip sync to their albums when performing live .... they only have live mics to throw in the little "How ya doing tonight {insert city name here} ?!?" quips, etc.

Having worked for Canada's largest FM radio station, and being directly involved in station sponsorship of these acts, I can tell you this as FACT.

Inside Edition had an article the other day about that, and confirmed that Brittney lipsynced, and so did Janet Jackson. They did a bit of polling of venue managers, and found that only about 5% of the acts use recordings, but that those 5% are among the top acts on tour.

I think it's shitty. If they're just going to come out and dance to their music, that's fine, but they should be honest and tell the fans that's what they're paying for. Brittney has come out and outright lied about it.

I think this is why metal/punk and country fans are so loyal....there is reall blood, sweat and tears there...none of this namby pamby bicthy shit with lip synching...

Maybe the musician in me makes this issue such a touchy one for me. If she's going to lip synch, may as well just hire a lookalike to perform...hell, I've seen strippers lip synch quite nicely at titty bars ;)))))

When I was a kid, I sang the national anthem for a Jays game at the Ex. Stadium. Well, not exactly. They thought the choir might get too nervous being around their favorite baseball stars, so they made us lipsynch the national anthem.

I found it somewhat demoralizing.

Ofcourse those popstars don't sing live, thank god for that.
Its all about the image now, there are only a few well known singers in this world that can actually produce a nice sound on stage.
