Andy in Galvestone Island. Calls his condo a "fortress"
He is duck taping his condo up, waiting for Rita.
Haha. |
Anyone else see that on CNN?
Thing is, even if you make it out, who in the hell wants to be without electricity and basic needs? |

Duct tape is great stuff though! |
Man, if he survives, duct tape could run the greatest ad campaign ever. haha
|
I hope that could hold on for a moment.
|
Any person who willfully chooses to stay in the "danger zone" deserves to be removed from the gene pool.
|
he was going to put some duct tape X on his glass to keep the 50 foot swell out
|
Duck tape is good for nuke missile attacks as well. As long as he crawls under the table reality will go away....

How many of you have been in a hurricane? I have been in 3, and you know what they really are not as bad as they seem. The only reason there is all this hype is because how fucked up everyone got in NO.

I know what you are saying, but damn, I think an island condo calls for evacuation. That is serious power on the way. |

Here is what I don't get. Why would you want to be in a place without electricity? On an island, my fear would be flooding. |

The one thing I hate after all this is the hype about hurricanes all of a sudden....its like the new big fad with the news and just about everyone else.
|
LA will have a quake soon enough and the focus will shift.
The media loves LA haha. Although the South has some great people to interview before a hurricane! |

With speeds of around 150 mph and the storm surge when buildings ain't constructed to handle that, it can get out of hand and dangerous. On low-lying ground - forget it! On two hurricanes it was *very* damned strange to have the eye overhead and the whole place peaceful and the sun shining, but 20 mins later that ended and back to wind and water! :1orglaugh |

Then for many years we skated by with a slew of 'light' hurricanes. We all got callious and went back to our listless expectations of the late summer storms. Until last year, when the active cycle seemed to wake from hibernation (1940-1960 was the last active cycle the atlantic experienced). I supose i hope people learn from the awful trajedy katrina caused. If it means erroring on the side of caution, heck so be it. |
Today, his "fortress".
Saturday, his "tomb". |

on the frikkin ocean with a chance of a category 5 storm coming right at you. You have to be an idiot to stick around. Anything category 1 or more I leave my home for a resort atleast if not out of the area (when I lived in florida, moved recently) |
I think I may start getting sponsors and riding them out.
When the news comes, I just start plugging my sponsors... "Yes, well, I am going to stack up these durable Ikea tables against the north side of the condo, should be good to go..." |
