You think the increase in gas price will directly have effects on online consumers.
As the car drivers sees there play money go down due to higher price in gas sales, do you think that this can/will have direct effect on peoples spending habits. Will they still have there spare money for a porn signup or a deposit to poker or casino site ?
(hope y;all read Jmanese :winkwink: ) |
it's a distinct possibility Jman, however they may have less cash from gas prices, but as a direct result of the gas increase they may also decide to go out less and therefore potentially spend more time online, in particular purchasing online (why spend gas to go to the store when you can buy what you want online)
Since they'll be online surfing and buying perhaps they'll be more likely to purchase asignup or go gamble away some money. It's probably a double edged sword :2 cents: |
Hopefully they'll stay home and buy porn, seems like a good idea for them to me.
|
porn and gambling are both impulse buys so i would think it will have little if any effect on those industries

It's gotta come from somewhere. Between the calls for donations and the price at the pump, not to mention the horrible economy right now when SEPT is usually bumping. Hell I can't afford to go to an Football game this weekend I know things cant be good.
I think its more of people re-prioritizing their wallet (and life) more than anything that is affecting sales. The distraction factor is pretty high as well. |
porn is recession proof..people will turn to jacking off to avoid the high gas prices...sex is almost like a drug...ya baby ya
|
Hopefully they'll stay home and buy porn instead of going out to strip club and wasting gasoline....Anything that restricts travel should be a good thing for online businesses.

I would think so. Less disposable income and all that. However, it could be countered a bit by the fact that in tough times, people turn to entertainment to spend their 'extra' money. They don't want to think about real life, they want fantasy.
But I wonder how many people lost computers in Katrina? |

It's a balancing game.. especially re your last sentence. |
Good I like the mix of opinions. I think short term it will have an affect but as many of you mentionned lots of people will probably decide to drop off the gas guzzlers and lay low at home more = more time online ;-)

I think the internet is not an exemption in the snow ball effect that oil price hike wil bring.
