The last I heard, they were talking about moving it to February, in the dry season.

iwantu 09-22-2005 12:37 PM

Brent,

The show will still happen. We are still looking into a better hotel/date option.
We will make an official announcement soon.

Thanks

If you guys need a hand with this, let me know. I know the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica like the back of my hand.

Maybe try something closer to the Liberia Airport?

i was there last nov and it rained a few times but just short periods but that was only in San Jose. when I went west to Jaco Beach it was sunny and warm the entire time in Nov.i was told the rain is really just inland at that time of the year..

feb would be very hot, wouldnt it? like high 30's?

Yeah in Feb we are out of the rainy season, so it probably would be very hot...though the Jaco area is usually never very dry, compared to say Guanacaste.

Also, if we choose Feb, it could be done around Valentine's Day to go with our theme of being a personals website :pimp

Costa Rica is about the most accepting place I've ever been. There's tons of openly gay people, wild hippies and pink haired surfers. The people here don't really care how you look, for the most part.

The rainy season is generally not Vancouver BC Style downpours all day and night. Generally it's nice in the morning, it clouds over and rains for a few hours in the afternoon, and then dries up again by the evening. Temperatures are generally slightly lower, but even at night you can wear shorts and not be cold.

September and October are generally the rainiest, but the weather patterns are as screwy here as eslewhere, this year. So even now it's been fairly dry.

Begining of December marks the start of the dry season, but it's one of the colder months. By February it's blazing hot, most of the green has turned to brown, and yes it'll 30+ on the beach.

Does it have to be in Jaco? If it were in San Jose, I would probably go. I love going to the Blue Marlin! :winkwink:

That is so true!! It freaked me out at the beginning to see young kids holding their babies and walking around town. It was a shock but then I guess I got use to it.

WarChild 09-22-2005 05:00 PM

The Del Rey is a shit hole for tourists, get serious guys. :(

I live in a suburb of San Jose called Escazu. I am from Vancouver, and while I would love to see I spend 8 months in Costa Rica and 4 months in Vancouver, it so far hasn't worked out that way.

Being a declared non resident of Canada is a bit of a tricky thing, and you have to really cut your ties to Canada. Owning a house would make things more difficult, and setting up a rental every year for 4 months is a pain in the ass. It's safe to say I'll be in Costa Rica on a pretty full time basis for the next few years, and then after that who knows what the future holds. I'll visit Vancouver soon, but no extended stays.

Right now I'm renting while my residency is finalized. After that I will buy a place, but probably at the beach. ADSL is not available in most beaches yet, but will be soon. Until that day, I'm suck in the city with two cable modems. They are 1024/256 connections as the cable company just upgraded them to twice as fast for free.

I highly recommend you visit here, then consider moving to Central or South America. Not all countries are as safe and secure as Costa Rica, it's kind of a jewel in that respect.

One of my best friends lives in Costa Rica...he bought a 17 acre plot of land down there and is right now finishing up building his own house (all on his own). He keeps hinting at my wife and moving down there with him and building our own place on his land....i wanna do it, but my wife has too many ties here in USA

True...unfortunately no matter what dates we look at, it seems there are always other shows in the same month :(

We will definately not make it happen on the same dates as another show though if we can help it....thanks for the heads up :thumbsup
