video editing machines
 

how much would a decent video editing machine go for ?
I'm not talking like huge productions or anything

just to edit my own personal vids of my daugther and stuff like that :)

I know ill need a huge hd and a huge amount of ram

Get a Mac, they come with everything you need :)

what's wrong with the computer you are using now? editing isn't nearly as hardware intensive as say, encoding...

i use a laptop that lacks firewire ;)

Buy a IBM or HP workstation (xeon CPU)
Throw in a cheap Matrox or Pinnacle editing card, and a Firewire-card, and you are good to go
