does anyone know how to effectively split video files on linux systems?

the split command doesnt seem to work. :)

well that was certainly a helpful link but it didnt solve my problem, i need to be able to split asf/wmv

I got videodub working on linux using wine. It was a painful install process, but the videodub worked well.

well, I didn't find an easy solution for that.
a solution would be to convert asf to mpeg then split the mpeg
and convert it back, but by the time you do that you'd be better
using windows.

I meant virtualdub. The older version of virtualdub(1.3c) had asf/wmv support.

yea the files are already on a server, i can download them with good speed, but uploading them again is gonna be a biotch.
