Some fuck head spammer is using one of my domains!

Well isn't that just fackin special.. Can I do anything about it?

AdPatron 09-20-2005 08:31 PM

how is he using it?

Martin 09-20-2005 08:32 PM

My domain e-mail address.

frankfortuna 09-20-2005 08:35 PM

Follow the money. Place an order and get their # from your CC statement.

DavieVegas 09-20-2005 08:36 PM

Sounds like he has nothing to gain from it. But it sounds like hes trying to get your domain shut down or suspended for spamming.

viki 09-20-2005 08:37 PM

What host are you using?

Juicy D. Links 09-20-2005 08:47 PM

Martin happened to me.....

Best you can do is really nothing tbh... I was getting 100's of bounces back when it happened

pawsregd 09-20-2005 08:50 PM

Happened to me too in the past. Juicy is right, nothing you can do. With bulk email software people can type in any "from" address and start spamming to make it seem like your domain is spamming. If it is not coming from your server then your host will not do anything.

MikeVega 09-20-2005 08:50 PM

that happen to me way back also ... sucks :disgust

pr0 09-20-2005 08:51 PM

happens all the time they use a simple spider to collect from domains

i get it done all the time cuz i mark my linklists with webmaster@

WoW! 09-20-2005 08:52 PM

Kill mail on the domain for a couple days and they will move on

Spunky 09-20-2005 09:00 PM

I tried changing my email addy's ..still get a bunch of them..fuckers

AdPatron 09-20-2005 09:04 PM

Let your host know.

chronic avenger 09-20-2005 09:09 PM

Im going thru the same shit. :(

JD 09-20-2005 09:15 PM

not really much you can do.

Fuckers did that to me, too. They must have just decided to use my domains because they sound cool, they were type-in domains, never promoted in any way, but great domains. At that time I had wildcard email system, so anything@ came to me. I was getting hundreds of bounces and complaints per hour and I expected the anti-spam guys to fuck with me, but to my surprise not one peep out of them. I think they know about sender spoofing, they ignore it.

hydro 09-20-2005 10:40 PM

unless your domain is less than about a week old you won't have any problems as far as getting the domain name suspended. It happens all the time and spamhaus/spamcop and the companies already know it exists.

adonthenet 09-20-2005 10:47 PM

theres lots of fuckers doing it.. happend to me like a year ago.. it was BIG SHIT

mikesouth 09-20-2005 10:49 PM

happens to me every freakin day nearly nothing you can do...at this point

IIRC when IP9 or whatever becomes standard this can be stopped, dunno if thats true but I hope it is

WiredGuy 09-20-2005 10:51 PM

Your host should understand its not you doing the spamming. Other than a couple thousand bounces and complaints, I wouldn't worry. It'll pass and they'll move to a new target soon enough.

kaktuz 09-20-2005 11:02 PM

happend here also , some fag was spamming from admin [at] kaktuz.com
and the funny thing i got spams from my domains wich arent even online..

phonesex 09-20-2005 11:04 PM

Try filtering the email and letting your hosting company know whats going on so they don't accuse you of anything.

adultchica 09-20-2005 11:06 PM

I had the same problem too! It's some bullshit. But most places can see the IP address that it came from (most of the time) and if it's not yours, don't sweat it!

CuriousToyBoy 09-21-2005 02:13 AM

Have you scanned your PC? Many trojans are actually built to do this.

I recommend virus scan, Spybot and Ad-Aware.

It happens more often then you would think

selena 09-21-2005 05:48 AM

I'm not the most technical person in the world, but I found the following info at www.dnsreports.com when something similiar happened at my old host. This is what it told me:

"Your domain does not have an SPF record. This means that spammers can easily send out E-mail that looks like it came from your domain, which can make your domain look bad (if the recipient thinks you really sent it), and can cost you money (when people complain to you, rather than the spammer). You may want to add an SPF record ASAP, as 01 Oct 2004 was the target date for domains to have SPF records in place (Hotmail, for example, started checking SPF records on 01 Oct 2004). "

hydro 09-21-2005 07:02 AM

spf doesnt exactly stop spammers from using the domain it just means places like hotmail will add "spam points" with their spam filters

Thanks for clearing that up for me. :) I wasn't sure from the reading if that meant having it added would stop it or not.
