sixdegreesaway.com /azguy Hosting Unreachable?

Prepaid for server for 3 months, losing major time and money because unreachable during downtime, can not reach azguy, each time there is a problem, must wait a day for someone to email back, is there anyone else that uses this company , I was referred to azguy from another gfy member as someone who is an active poster here and since he posts here all the time, he would be reachable as a host and that would be a positive thing.

I have not been able to reach azguy once since paying, I talk to someone else who works for him, whenever he decides to come online. I need to know, am I alone or does someone else use this company and have similar issues? I feel like a hostage right now, losing repuataion and revenue faster then a motherfucker.

when I first signed up, my site had generated over 10 thosand members within the first 2 weeks of being online. All of a sudden, my whole framework was not working, no functions were working, the site was rendered useless! I hired a tech to try and fix the issues , he told me that it had to be the host who modified something and that it is not our fault, well, I asked the host (sixdegreesaway) and on 3 occasions they said, No that they did nothing to make the problems occur.

Then after the 6th day of downtime, in an icq communication with sixdegreesaway, he says that maybe it is the "firewall" that he turned on.... Yes thats right, that he turned on, when our backend software that runs the site CANNOT communicate through such a firewall, it just can not... I say, OMG, you installed a firewall!!?? Take it off! Then he does and Whammo, we are working like a charm, it was that firewall they put on without even telling us about it, on our server. So we lost 6 days, picked up from where we left off and now, in our 6th week, we are down again, thig time with over 25 thousand members, and I contacted sixdegreesaway by email and attached the logs from the server that show, the last person to go into the server with ROOT access was a username that I never put in there, it was a username that sixdegrees put in the server that has rootaccess. The logs show that just before we went down, that person logged in the server.

I get an email back, telling me that I have a managed plan (I never heard of this) it does not even say this on any of my plan sheets or receipts for payment. And that since it is a managed plan, their setting up usernames with root in my server is a-ok. Still I get no explanation as to why the logs show that username as the last active one right as we went down and out. No explanation, just air and now 25 thousand members in limbo hitting a site that is unresponsive.

What do I do, I am losing my patients over here, I am watching a thriving site crumble before my eyes, I have nobody that is online or a phone number to call when I need assistance for these problems, I am left to send an email and hope that I get a sign of life back from the company within a day.

Maybe azguy can shed some light?

I asked why and the response I got was " it is a managed plan" Thats it , thats all.

[CG] 09-20-2005 11:18 AM

Any work that is done on the server, even if its a managed plan should be passed by the clients for approval.

Sounds like a bummer man, do they have a ticket system, maybe you can open a trouble ticket & get quicker response?

Good luck man!

Well, magically, now we are back online, everything running smoothly....

That did not take too long since my post here.

Well I will keep updated if anything changes.

I agree, but no ticket system. only icq and email. I am not a overly demanding customer, I have a HUGE business and just need it to run smoothly and have answers when I have questions. I would promote the hell out of these guys if they would just make it easier for me to reach them and not force themselves upon me on the server and make changes that cost me days of problems without even checking in with me before making such changes. It feels like getting violated a little, I dont know....

The server is fast, the price is reasonable for the high bandwith and location, just the customer service needs a serious revamping.

MontrealPimp 09-20-2005 11:55 AM

maybe I spoke too soon, there are still problems... ironing them out, it loads, then it does not load...

quite depressed over here.
I need a dedicated sql server as well now to addon to the current setup. I just wish I had a way to contact live.....

my needs are expanding by the hour here,I can not take more time to go shopping elseware, I just need to get shit done in a reasonable timeframe.

still 98% offline I am feeling sick.

azguy 10-23-2005 12:12 PM

Just an update, as I didn't visit this board for a long time (doesn't mean your case wasn't handled, of course).

Your situation was sophisticated and required special attention, which it did receive. The second server has been delivered to you as per your requirements, and the other one was successfully back online shortly after a DDoS attack.

Also, you keep sending technical emails directly to me when I ask you to direct them to support. And I am sick of this childish board, so I don't come here anymore. Got better things to do :)

Ah, I didn't come to GFY for a very long time. It's just a pointless place, and besides I am out of adult nowadays and my mainstream partners and businesses wouldn't benefit from such association.

DDoS attacks bring down far more important sites than yours man :) It was handled within a few hours and your site was live again with no problems. We didn't even charge you for the new firewall solutions.

azguy 10-23-2005 12:17 PM

And now, let's say byebye to GFY for another month. hehehe

MontrealPimp 10-24-2005 12:35 PM

All is well now

Azguy you came through, all is good, we are running nice and fast on 2 servers now, handling our 55 thousand members and growing very well. The servers you guys got us on are awesome, thanks for rectifying all that now I can go back to the daily grind.

datezonline 11-14-2005 08:53 PM

azguy i was considoring hosting with you but saying "DDoS attacks bring down far more important sites than yours man" is a very bad attitude to have.

its a wonder your still in business
