I broke my back years ago....and I've had sciatic pain ever since. Add to that, mouse shoulder and hip pain from sitting in this damned chair for seven years.

I am no longer in pain. Took four months and three days a week at the gym and it's the only thing that's worked for me.

DirtyDreamer 09-19-2005 01:50 PM

I have been having problems with my lower back. However, I think the majority of my problem is that I'm too broke to buy a new office chair.

ronaldo 09-19-2005 01:50 PM

Are you sure it's from sitting all day?

Perhaps there's another reason for your back pain. Like your front.

Machete_ 09-19-2005 01:51 PM

that is why you HAVE to go to the gym.. if you dont, the same thing that happens to old truck drivers, can happen to you.. they cut off their legs because of almost 0 blood circulation

.. DO IT NOW - before its to late

seeric 09-19-2005 01:52 PM

since i have started exercising again, my back pains has minimized

LiveDose 09-19-2005 01:55 PM

Hey FB,

I had major major back problems about two years ago. Not due to an injury but it seemed to come out of nowhere. I found it to be stress related as I was dealing with taking care of a very sick parent at the time.

Not saying this is a cure all but check out a book by John Sarno called The Mind Body Prescription (or something along those lines). A very interesting read and it has helped many with back issues...

Good luck!

Get ecersise.

A simple walk for about 20 minutes a day or longer should do the trick.

I know how you feel
I too broke my back and my neck.
have had nothing but pain ever since.
of course the only work they say I can do is sitting at a desk, they don't kow shit I hurt just as much if not more than if I was doing heavy labour.

BlackCrayon 09-19-2005 02:25 PM

never had any problems

Doc911 09-19-2005 02:28 PM

Back problems neck problems I even have mouse elbow!

Funbrunette 09-19-2005 02:30 PM

I work out a minimum of 4 days a week...And I've been getting massages lately.... :(

RuthB 09-19-2005 02:31 PM

I find getting up every couple of hours and stretching out for about 5-10 minutes helps (also gives me a chance for a smoke break :1orglaugh ) - staying in the same position for long durations can really aggrevate back pain.

Of course, Ron makes a good point, women with large breasts are more likely to have back pain from the weight at the front there.

You may find a chiropractor helps you FB, they've worked wonders for me when I've used them. :2 cents:

Redrob 09-19-2005 02:32 PM

I got a rowing machine and try to spend 30 minutes every other day pulling steel.

djroof 09-19-2005 02:40 PM

I do many breaks....

Exercise and focusing on strengthening your stomach muscles, helps. Strong abs keep your back in line.

smack 09-19-2005 05:02 PM

a good office chair plus exercise does wonders.

Maybe it's your posture or your chair?..Try getting up every hour and move around

Babagirls 09-19-2005 08:01 PM
