Question for you cat lovers

My neighbor just came over, wondering if I have seen her pussy. I haven't, and told her I wasn't interested.

She then explained that she was talking about her cat, of which I have similar disinterest, but I let her go in my back yard to see if she could find it. She said she could hear it and thought it must be in one of my trees. I told her if the cat was in a tree, when it got hungry it would come down.

Just then we spotted it. It is about 40' up on the top of an electric utility pole. I would just shoot skyrockets at it but I am afraid it will get scared fall into the power lines, and knock out my service.

So, how do you get a small kitten, that is obviously scared, to carefully come down without shorting something out?

Napolean 09-18-2005 08:33 PM

just climb up there and get the kitty baddog :)

Not Working 09-18-2005 08:39 PM

It got up there by itself, it will come down by itself.

have you ever seen a dead cat on the top of a utility pole? No, I rest my case.

=^..^= 09-18-2005 08:41 PM

can of tuna

Peaches 09-18-2005 08:46 PM

brizzad 09-18-2005 08:46 PM

travel back to the 1950's and call the fire department

(or just call animal control.. they have these big ass ladders and huge poles with little things on the end that they use to save kittens with all the time)

That is what she wanted to do . . . I told her she watches too much TV.

rebel_vamp 09-18-2005 08:49 PM

my heart goes out for the poor cat... anyway, the cat can come down by itself

Spunky 09-18-2005 08:49 PM

Might have to call Hydro or the fire dept and ask what to do.It might climb back down by itself

I highly doubt any animal control person has a 40 foot pole that they are going to want to try and manipulate thru power lines.

I already took my boots off, and I am not sure where my hooks are.

Your power line company.I think they might send a tech to climb the pole and retrieve it but it will cost.

I have never seen an animal control truck with a 28' ladder (required to get to the telephone cable), and they would still have to stick the pole thry the power lines.

i usually can get my cat to come down from anywhere or out from anywhere...by using an electric can opener where he can hear it. he just KNOWS that i'm opening tuna.

rebel_vamp 09-18-2005 09:18 PM

nice trick there, MikeSmoke.

Now, there is no reason she has to see this thread . . besides, the cat tried to get into my house last week in an attempt to get Fred . . . so I was thinking of his safety

rebel_vamp 09-18-2005 10:53 PM

very very bad cat... now get a stoner, LOL.

Sosa 09-18-2005 10:53 PM

sure animal control would do something or have someone with a truck that would send someone up that high.

Murderous 09-18-2005 10:54 PM

well.. I have to laugh at the reply about not seeing any dead kittens at the top of utility poles, you will have me looking at every pole I pass for the next 2 weeks.

I also have to laugh at the thing about animal control not using poles... I guess they don't make poles out of fiberglass or kevlar these days. I would not go after it with a pole made of metal no.

Kard63 09-18-2005 10:55 PM

The wire at the top of the normal sized poles (the wire that looks weird like something is holding it a foot away from the pole) can kill you without touching it. The electric company needs to come out with their truck that has an insulated bucket you just have to leave the cat.

BigCashCrew Dude 09-18-2005 10:57 PM

it will come down on it's own, give it time

Have you ever tried to manipulate a fiberglass pole of any length?

As far as dead kitties on poles . . . this one isn't moving around too much anymore. I will try to change that in a couple hours.

BV 09-18-2005 11:21 PM

call the power company, they'll come out at no charge.

Actually I have used a tree trimmer of a fairly good length that appeared to be made of a fiberglass type material. I was mostly pointing out that they would use something that was NOT metal, hell even wood would do. Hell it is hard to manipulate anything 40' long hehe.

je_rome 09-19-2005 01:54 AM

I'd say you get the cta yourself. Climb up with a can of tuna.

If I had a can of tuna I might throw it at the cat, but that is about it

it really does work - the night before I was going to move a couple of years ago, my cat was going crazy...he snuck out onto the balcony and jumped three flights to the ground and was prowling around at night. i searched for several hours, couldn't find him...finally found where he was hiding in some shrubs behind a fence where i couldn't get to him. i brought out a can opener on a long extension cord....and within 5 minutes, he was peacefully back in the apartment and i could finish packing. :1orglaugh

I tried water, that didn't work. I will suggest she try that tomorrow . . . presuming she feeds it canned food. Guess she could shake a box under the pole.

Will be interesting to see what tomorrow brings when the big assed crows want to sit on their roost.

PixeLs 09-19-2005 03:13 AM

Tell your neighbour to call 911.

I remember we called the fire department when I was growing up to get a cat out of the tree. I believe I also remember that they laughed when we asked if they would come and get our cat out of the tree.

Pete-KT 09-19-2005 06:17 AM

Do you need to borrow my .40 cal glock?

CherryLipsRosa 09-19-2005 10:27 AM

Call any animal shelter place they know who can help in your area.
