Adult Online Community as Fighters in Cultural War
 

It is when the pubic's interest is diverted by wars, disasters, and pestilence that the Conservatives will try to curtail our freedoms. If you watch the news, you will see all three topics and the Consevatives introducing new legislation.

This is the time that we need to be most aware and protective of our freedoms. Let's not give up our freedoms in the name of "protecting.........
<insert whomever you wish, I personally prefer 'Christo-Naziis' instead of Children because I think the Children argument is BS for the most part>".

In fact, this is not the time to be silent, run and hide, or fail to lookout for the interest of our brothers and sisters.

As the most popular online community, we should step up to the plate and make ourselves heard though our websites and forums. We should write letters to editors, call into local radio talk shows, and denounce censorship and erosion of our rights whereever we find it and in whatever medium it occurs.

The Conservatives see this as a cultural war for the hearts and souls of all Americans. It is truly the last dying efforts of the dogmatic priests to maintain control over the population. The cultural war is being fought over reproduction rights, gay rights, privacy rights, the right to teach evolution in schools, etc. It is truly a cultural war.

If we remain silent and unorganized, we have lost the war. If we do not support our brothers and sisters (ACLU, People for An American Way, NOW, TFN, PBAA, VSDA, EFF etc) in their fights, we will all lose collectively.

The ultimate outcome could be a theocracy with the President being the religious leader of the country like in Iran. Or, the United States becoming a country with seriously curtailed personal freedoms and few 1st Amendment Rights like S. Korea or Singapore. This is very possible with a like-minded Supreme Court to uphold the Conservative legislation as constitutional.

Friends, it is time to breakout the 'hippy beads' and start protesting. Today, do something to secure your rights: write a letter, call a radio station, talk to a neighbor, start a petition in your community, organize a meeting, start a newsletter, or carry a sign....... Just don't be passive.

The first ass you will save will be yours.
