any kickass wall mountable 42"+ TV for 3k or less?

looking for a kickass wall mountable tv, (plasma, lcd, etc), that won't cost me an arm and a leg

42" is ok, 50" is preferable, want it for the basement of the new house to watch a bunch of movies and play some consoles

let me know

thanx!

wedouglas 09-16-2005 12:00 PM

Manowar 09-16-2005 12:01 PM

yeah, i have an lg 42" and it's good value (now) with good quality

i heard some samsungs were also pretty cheap

wedouglas 09-16-2005 12:02 PM

I'd wait on HD until 1080p input sets come out :2 cents:

Pipecrew 09-16-2005 12:04 PM

they will all be atleast 3k and you wont get something bigger then 42 for under that..

Unless you can find a water damaged or salvaged one somewhere.

They are already out, but its pointless to get them now when programming for them won't be out for 3-4 years.

You can get a Samsung HDTV plasma for $3500 Canadian at Best Buy.

Link

As someone else said, stay away from the EDTV sets. Anything under 3K Canadian is going to be an EDTV set, not HDTV.

prices have really dropped the past 6 months. you can get an top-rated panasonic 42" plasma ED (looks as good as a HD) for $2000 or less now. that's the one i'd get...(i have a 2004 model).

i just got a 42" panasonic HD for 2500 at Brandsmart the other day... prices have really come down over the past few months.

Yes you can get a 42' plasma hdtv, you'll probably have to get last years model, still will be a great picture:

Not true at all, prices on plasma are falling hard, you can now get 50' hdtv plasmas for under 3k.

There is a 42" plasma EDTV by Norcent for under 2K, the resolution is very close to HDTV.

Every EDTV I've seen just converts everything to 480P, which kinda blows after you've seen true HDTV. If you're not watching anything in HD then I guess 480P is pretty good.
