Indian conversion rate : $1 = ?

What is the conversion rate from American dollars to Indian money? For instance, $200 in American money here would be equivilent to how much money in India?

I'm trying to figure out how these programmers from India are working for so cheap!

43.50 Rs = 1 USD. For 43.50 you can have a very good lunch, better then the fast food joints here.

I am going to pay a programmer in India for some added site features to Acidflyers and was just skeptical. I was quoted $400 for something that American programmers quoted me $5000 for.
