Surfers and screen resolutions.
 

Does anybody have any decent statistics about resolutions? Are many people actually still using 800x600?

If you were developing a joke/porn/content site, would you optimize for 800X600 or skip right to 1024X768?

Any other thoughts on the matter?

1024x768 -54 %
800x600 - 18%
1280x1024 - 13 %
1152x864 - 4 %
1280x800 - 2 %
others - 9 %

Assuming you're not just making this up and fucking with me (hey, it is GFY) .. then you only risk alienating < 20% of surfers using a resolution before 1024.

I wonder what percentage of these people who still use 800x600 know they're losers and don't get too offended by a site they need to scroll sideways on? :)

Hard issue to deal with. I still let mine be viewable in 800x600 for now. When the % gets less maybe I design them bigger. Although, I let my site expand based ont what the resolution size is anyway so that works too :winkwink:

I still use 800x600 in most cases for design
