To All Armenians on this board

For the first time in nearly five years, the
influential U.S. House International Relations Committee will discuss and
vote upon legislation on the Armenian Genocide (H.Res.316 and
H.Con.Res.195). In October of 2000, the panel voted 24 to 11 to
approve the Armenian Genocide Resolution, but the measure was
eventually withdrawn from consideration only minutes before it
was to go before the full House of Representatives.

To watch the live Webcast, visit the website of the
U.S. House International Relations Committee and click on "Live
webcast of meeting."

Thursday, September 15th - 2pm Eastern Time(It started at 10:30am, now they are at lunch, will resume at 2pm)

there is a handfull left, my grandfather who was a survivor past away in 1994 at the age of 90, and he used to tell me the stories, and how he and his sister escaped but lost every member of his family. :(

Yeap, after the Genocide, 1.5 million Armenians died and another half million got scattered all around the world, including the U.S. Armenians first came to Worcester, MA, then from there to all over, with California having the biggest Armenian population in the U.S (close to a million). There are more Armenians in California than in Armenia's capital, Yerevan :)

Lev 09-15-2005 12:26 PM

What did the acknowledgment of Holocaust resolve? The whole world learned of the attrocities that Nazi Germany commited against Jews. Do not forget that Genocide is the worst crime against humanity, it is a systematic and deliberate exterminations of an entire race! If the plans of Nazi Germany and the Ottoman Empire were fully completed, there will be no Jews or Armenians in the world.

This bill is so important, because if the most powerful country in the world recognizes this atrocity, other nations will follow and you will have an international recognition of the Armenian Genocide.
