WTF?: Delta Air Lines and Northwest filed for bankruptcy
... looks like Lensman + the rest will stay in europe
Delta Air Lines and Northwest filed for bankruptcy Wednesday, making them the third and fourth major U.S. carriers to be operating under bankruptcy protection. The two companies follow United Airlines and US Airways into bankruptcy. United, the No. 2 airline, has been in bankruptcy court for almost three years. US Airways has been in bankruptcy court twice since the September 11 terrorist attacks that shook the airline industry. http://money.cnn.com/2005/09/14/news...ex.htm?cnn=yes |
Bankruptcy is the only way these airlines can get their labor unions to agree to wage concessions.
Airlines are a tough business. |

I can't recall the law, bill, regulation, off the top of my head, but by being in bankruptcy it gives them more leverage to make the union give them the concessions they have been asking for some time. :pimp |
