Does adult entertainment dictate tastes and trends or does it simply cater to the tastes, desires and eccentricities of the average human being?

The answer to this could shape the way the conservative world percieves the world of adult entertainment.

adult entertainment is the fruit of peoples imagination, desire and lust.. nothing more.. its the people that create the trends, not the "industry" (or the "man" if you are a negro)

The adult industry is based on what people don?t do in normal life. Usually it is a craving that they have and would like to fulfill. It is a reflection of every day life and not vise versa.

i think like with most things it is give and take. i don't know if the adult industry is evident enough in everday life to start all trends, but it has definately kickstarted a good deal.

and in other cases it caters to. :)

tough call. While I'd like to say that if you only offered vile disturbing porn and nothing else people wouldn't buy, at the same time I realize that if there is nothing else out there, people will end up watching what is available.

I personally can't see Ass2Mouth as a normal sexual habit happening in the bedrooms across the nation and yet it is/was popular porn.

The Porn industry seems to give people 'permission' to do what turns them on. They figure if they saw it in a movie, it can't be that strange because other people are doing it.

I don't think its dictates, but it certainly enhances popularity of niches.
