Playing with the pen tool... (pic)
There's a joke amongst a friend of mine and his other friends concerning one of their buds who seems to "lie" a lot, to be blunt... and anyone who they think is bullshitting, they refer to them with a phrase, "You've been woj'd" (WOJ is the nickname of the kid who lies)... so my friend was tellin me this and i asked him if he had a picture so I could make a logo for the phrase, so i could get some of that type of illustration work under my belt. sure enough he had a good pic, here's what i made, it's pretty fun! :winkwink:
http://www.garysimon.net/gfywoj.gif i personally don't know the kid all that well, but i know he's a nice guy so i feel kinda bad contributing to the situation lol. however it did only take me around 30 mins to do. |
wait so the woj that post on here is also a chronic liar?

i'm not sure if there is a tutorial for this. it's actually a quite simple "process", the only difficult part of it is learning how to effectively use the pen tool. All you have to do is open up the image, place it on its own layer over a white background... then just start tracing each little part with the pen tool. this includes tracing over the different parts of the eyes, the eyebrows, the mouth, hair, yadda yadda... you just have to know how to work with those anchor points and set the curves accordingly, and you can only get good at that with practice (it's not all that tough once you get the hang of it). a few things you'll want to do to make the job easier... i use the pen tool on the fill mode (so that when you start drawing out the points, it automatically fills with color) - but sometimes that color gets in the way of what you're drawing, so you simply adjust the layers opacity to 0% while drawing. anyhow, like i said, just takes practice. |
