We Are Running Out Of Gas
The panic buyers here have basically left us with no gas at all at the petrol stations, and the actual demo's don't even start till tomorrow.
The queues this morning went on for miles, and now most places we've been to have already ran out. Should be an interesting few days ahead... :disgust |
scotland? weird no problem here or belgium germany etc...

There is only a problem because people are panicing. Apparently we have pleanty in the country but because people are sheep they are going and buying it anyway and drying the pumps at particular stations. The reason (for the outsiders) is that there is going to be a fuel protest tomorrow and the last time these thugs did it five years ago they blocked the fuel trucks and people couldn't get petrol for ages and that was a real crisis.

London dosnt seem too bad ATM.....
But I spoke to someone in Southend earlier and they had to wait 2 hours for fill up. Tonight will be bad when people realise they wont be able to get into work in the morning. |

What's happening exactly ? I don't get it

yep
how high are the gas prices? |

So everyone has ran around filling up their cars and basically leaving a shortage already. The next few days could see many people struggling to make work at all... |
There is a debate about if there is actually a shortage in the country or not. The officals in control of the reserves says there is pleanty. One of the guys heading this was bitching about having to help the USA with fuel becaue of Katrina last night on thre radio. He lost me the instant he came out with that crap even if prices are too high.
|
no problems in the us

My cars sitting in my drive way fully fueled up. I'm in Rotterdam, but come home tomorrow for two days so I should be ok. By the time I get back again this should all have blown over.

..supply and demand...
..the price has jumped here in the UK for many reasons.. Katrina knocking out a lot of refining capcity in the US hasn't helped cuz now the US is buying more on the world market, increasing demand while the supply is being restricted, hence price rises.
Although UK refineries are apparently the top 9 in Europe for effieciency. But there's no point being efficient if you've got to compete for the project harder to refine. OPEC are not increasing production, exploration or refining , and from a purely capitalist stand point I dont blame them. Prices rise they get more money. They produce more and increase supply and prices fall they get less money. UK petrol duty(tax) is 2nd highest in Europe, but it needs to be because we're gonna run out of fuel at some point. Making petrol expensive encourages the exploration and uptake of alternative fuels, so when the shit hits the fan it might not affect us as bad. So the £1 a litre came around a lot quicker than I expected. I was predicting another 4-5 years. For those in the US to get an idea of how much we pay: 1 litre = 0.26 US gallons approx £1 = $1.82 approx So to buy a gallon in the US at UK prices would cost $7.30 with just under 50% going in tax. As I understand it you'd be in armed revolt if it cost that much? Is that the case or have I got myself mixed up ??? Everyone will have to get up at 5am and walk to work!! Lol Or we all just say "FUCK IT" and spend our time fucking each other all day :winkwink: :winkwink: :thumbsup I. |
Theres no fuel at all in Lincoln UK, all the main supermarkets have sold out, all the fuel stations sold out yesterday. I was lucky to get some from a local repair guy who has a pump £1 per litre :Oh crap

yeah they are running out here in grimsby and big que's at the main petrol stations people waithing an average of 1hour to get petrol. There's even been a couple of fights on the forcourts :( the protestors think they are hurting the big refinerys but people are actually buying more than they usually do so I dont see what good it will do
|
$7 plus might actually cause an armed revolt in this country, yes.
|
$7/gallon is pretty steep. I can see the reason for the protest. I thought GB was an exporter? North sea oil is your right?
|
just went out with my flatmate to try to see if we could fuel up at the petrol station on the corner of my street. Now, keep in mind it is midnight and not usually a busy time for them. The place was swampped and the guy kept having to repeat 'we are out of unleaded' over and over on the intercom. It is going to be fun tomorrow.
