It's expensive. A normal, small house will cost you at least 300k$ in a small city, and more like 500k$ in a big city. Amsterdam is much more expensive.
Cars are twice as expensive as in the USA. 350Z in USA is like 30k$? it's 60k$ in the Netherlands Enjoy our taxes :thumbsup |
Yep, americans will be in shock when they see the prices over here.
Also i pay 53% tax over a large part of my income as well :-( it is crazy.. |
Holland is expensive. But it depends where you live, the west (amsterdam rdam the hague) is approx 20-25% more exp then the other areas, like every country. Taxes, houses, cost of living. We tax everything, food, import tax on cars, electronics etc, everything is taxed and sorted out in the finest details on paper.

A decent 1 bedroom furnished apartment will cost you at least $1600 USD a month in Amsterdam. $2000 a month for very nice. $2500 a month for excellent.
Cars and gas are expensive, and there's nowhere to park, but if you live in a city you can usually walk anywhere in under 20 minutes. You can easily rent a car for $50 USD a day for road trips. Any dairy foods are very cheap, but anything like coke or sprite is very expensive. |
I wouldnt stay in Amsterdam to be honest, Ive lived my whole life in the west and Im tired of it, costs are skyhigh. Get a nice appartment or house somewhere else, spend some cash on a decent car and youre in Amsterdam in no time, Holland takes less then 3 hrs to cross from north to south. Plus you might wanna check out how ppl are in the areas youre interested in. They differ. Lots.

Check-out Haarlem it's 10 miles outside Amsterdam, the look is quite similar, the
girls are 10 times hotter, cost of living is lower, apartments are better, you're VERY close to the beach, restaurants are 10 times better. Taxes and stuff are high but as a foreigner especialy with an internet business offers a lot of creative options to get around this. Since you don't have a `history` here. decent rental places are available from around $800 per month. |
Living in the netherlands is terrible nowadays!!!!
Everything is getting more and more expensive! Maybe I will move to US or New Zealand.... :321GFY |
mmmmmm ive been contemplating living in .nl for 3 months out of the year
|
living here is exspensive. the only good thing is that you can smoke weed legal. that's it. our taxes system will kill you, cars & oil/gas cost the double :)
|
I wouldn't do it... everything is expensive over here man. Gas prices are among the highest in the world. Groceries etc are pretty expensive compared to the USA. Like Bike said cars are twice the US price here, housing prices are also pretty steep. 300K for anything liveable and 500K for a nice house.
|
lived there a couple of months and it was crazy. It is really exspensive there. Quite boring in some places i have been as people there are very indoors and stuff plus really on their self. I can't recommend it, only for the weed. :)
