my first Belvedere experience

I always wanted to try that shit, but most of the time in the local shops I dont find it. Today in the tax free shop in the airport I saw it standing there for 30 euros so I couldnt resist. Just took my first sip and wow, its smooth.

chowda 09-12-2005 12:55 PM

can u really tell the difference in all honesty? Can your mouth differentiate between different BRANDS of vodka?

C-Bass 09-12-2005 12:59 PM

What's more expensive? This or Grey Goose?

Good to read this is about a brand of vodka instead of the TV Show

I dont really taste a difference, but it wouldnt surprise me if there was a different taste. I know geographically they do taste different. I guess thats why they had that pepsi challenge?

If you lined up 5 vodka's for a taste, im sure finding the belvedere wont be that easy. Which was why i asked if u were a sommelier :)

chowda 09-12-2005 01:45 PM

and besides, unless ur drinking this shit straight, no one can tell the difference.

studiocritic 09-12-2005 01:46 PM

try some russian vodka if u want some good shit, stoli's are great.

i hear ketel one is good, but i havent tried it yet.

Young 09-12-2005 02:19 PM

1. Grey Goose
2. Stoli (any flavor)
3. Belvedere
4. Ketel One
5. Armadale

That's how I rank them. Level Vodka is pretty good as is 3 Olives.

Grey Goose is the best by far, the citron version is pretty good too.

Vanilla Stoli with cream soda will get you in trouble if you don't watch how much you drink because it goes down like...we'll cream soda.

Belvedere or Grey Goose isn't practical if your just looking to mix drinks at home. I reserve my Grey Goose habit to buying $300 bottles when I want a table at a club. That's when it tastes really good. But what doesn't at 1300% markup.

Sosa 09-12-2005 02:22 PM

I can't take straight vodka. I do that and no matter what else I drink I puke

Ecksent 09-12-2005 02:31 PM

Anyone else tried Ciroc? This is the stuff dreams are made of. Saw in a Duty Free store......and had to try it. Can't find it in any BC Liquor stores though.

Doctor Dre 09-12-2005 02:56 PM

I'm not a vodka fan but Rhum have very different tasting from a brand to another

mackey 09-12-2005 03:57 PM

I bought my first bottle of grey goose the other weekend and took a few shots.

It went down a whole lot smoother than the others. I usually buy stoli and thought it was a lot better, but stoli has more variety.

beemk 09-12-2005 04:02 PM

you can def tell the difference. the first time i drank it i got drunk out of my mind because it was so smooth and you dont realize how much you're drinking.

hagbard 09-12-2005 04:12 PM

This is NOT bullshit:

http://www.ohmygoditburns.com/wordpress/index.php?p=4

Running cheap crap vodka over and over through a standard brita filter will take out enough of the crap that it turns into smooth drinking good shit.

i can taste the difference. but, of course, i am a vodka nerd. alot of it is in the density of the wodka too. some sore more syrupy when chilled etc etc. its like the difference between different types of beer. i can tell the difference between four different ales or stouts, or what have you.

bottom line is you can't go wrong with grey goose, belvedere, chopin, or even level for that matter. all very good vodkas.

i think its worth it to just spend the extra $10 and get good vodka.

hagbard 09-12-2005 06:13 PM

Depends on if you think good vodka costs $18.00. They're using $8 garbage and people are comparing it to $50 bottles wherever I see this done. since its pretty funny and cool to do anyways its worth it anyhoo.

RRRED 09-12-2005 06:18 PM

I just had a sudden memory of me and Tonda and lots of Belvedere!!! Mixed with orange crush!! hahahahaha!!!

tranza 09-12-2005 08:13 PM

i haven't experience that yet...!
