Do you know your blood type?

I have always known mine because my mother told me it was fairly rare and wanted me to be prepared if I needed some in an accident. This weekend the topic of being an organ donor came up in a conversation with a group of friends and only about half of us knew our blood type. Do you know yours?

DutchTeenCash 09-12-2005 07:49 AM

offcourse nothing special though

so what are you like AB?

Peaches 09-12-2005 07:49 AM

O positive. We had to type it in HS biology class.

poppet 09-12-2005 07:51 AM

B+. I was typed at birth. Why on earth people still aren't typed is beyond me.

psili 09-12-2005 07:52 AM

Shok 09-12-2005 08:21 AM

Gungadin 09-12-2005 08:22 AM

A+

.........

sherie 09-12-2005 08:24 AM

I did learn it in school but it's one of those things that has slipped my mind since then. I am going to find out soon tho and will be sure not to forget it. Shameful I know...ah well.

Peaches 09-12-2005 08:27 AM

I had 2 blood transfusions in 2000. They have to have 2 hospital employees check and recheck each pint before they give it to you. If I didn't know it then, I certainly learned after hearing it 50+ times :)

Kassidy 09-12-2005 08:33 AM

I'm A+...anyone who has had children should know their type, especially mothers. The Rh factor in the parents' blood is a big deal.

JUSTB 09-12-2005 08:45 AM

B+ but I never knew until I was pregnant with my daughter.

u-Bob 09-12-2005 09:00 AM

offcourse. that's something every normal person knows.

BV 09-12-2005 09:01 AM

TheJimmy 09-12-2005 09:09 AM

volante 09-12-2005 09:15 AM

I did know thanks to a bout of E.Coli poisoning a few years ago, but I've forgotten. I know I'm allergic to penicillin - that I WON'T forget!

O+ I'm as common as they come. I only know because I donate blood and they stamped it on my donor card though.

mortenb 09-12-2005 10:25 AM

Yep.. For some reason I had to learn to do bloodtests when I went to school.. Imagine 25 students with blood all over.. :-) That was a fun day..

Lance69 09-12-2005 10:33 AM

My mom is a science teacher and refused to let me take part in the 'lets prick each other's finger and bleed all over each other' day in science class. Even if it wasn't at the height if the AIDs scare that was just a bad idea in her eyes.

Babagirls 09-12-2005 10:41 AM

not sure, i should probably get that checked out though lol

I've always known mine for the same reason.....A Positive.

Course, my mother always wanted me to carry extra underwear in my glove compartment, in case of an accident. :winkwink:

wedouglas 09-12-2005 05:23 PM

zentz 09-12-2005 05:24 PM

actualy i dont lol.. i should check that

PixeLs 09-12-2005 11:36 PM

My blood type is AB. I knew it back then when I enrolled in college and the school asked all the enrollees to have physical exam.

Shortbread 09-12-2005 11:40 PM

AB is the rarest form of blood, but the good news is that it is the only form of blood that can recieve blood from anyone! Type O is the most common, but it can only receive blood from other O's

KMR Stitch 09-12-2005 11:43 PM

A+ I brag thats the only A+ I have gotten on a test ;-)

I donated blood and they sent me a thank you letter and told me what I was.

BastarD 09-12-2005 11:47 PM

nope sorry, I have no idea :1orglaugh :1orglaugh
