If reincarnation is real...

...then wouldn't there be millions of humans walking around today who lived in previous lives already? The only two explanations I can think of is that once someone is reincarnated their memory is wiped clean, or the more obvious explanation: there is no such thing as reincarnation. What do you think?

Why don't you just give me a quick low-down instead?

Dirty F 09-12-2005 01:31 AM

Ofcourse it isnt real. Millions tried to prove it already and millions failed. There is not ONE piece of evidence which shows its real. Not ONE. From millions trying to prove all failed. Pretty pathetic if you ask me.

And yes, there are way fucking more people than 10 years ago, 100 years ago, 1000 years ago. So that alone makes it impossible.

StickyGreen 09-12-2005 01:34 AM

Well unless my theory about the memory starting over at blank, but then that would defeat the whole purpose now wouldn't it? What's the point of being able to live on if you don't even know it? Wouldn't that basically be the same as dying?

sorta.. its a lot more reassuring than thinking we just come back as compost :winkwink:

StickyGreen 09-12-2005 01:52 AM

I'd rather be real than reassuring.

but its also pointless to push the views on others, let people believe what they want, and a kind STFU if they try too hard to convince you otherwise

either way, if we're wrong.. we'll never know :)

Exactly. You could believe all sorts of shit and live in a happy everythings-made-of-chocolate world of ignorance if you just want to be reassured by whatever candy coated shit some people believe in.

Well, reincarnation is basically part of Hindu culture's concept of cyclical path of life. A concept stating that everything that happens now will happen again--everything that exists in this world is involved in a cycle. People who lived and died today will live again as another being, maybe as a human with higher social status compared to what they previously had or as lower beings such as insects or animals; depending on how righteous or wicked they are during their previous life.

Furious_Female 09-12-2005 02:16 AM

If reincarnation existed, the purpose of whiping the slate clean and starting out with no memory is the whole point. If (big if) it exists, then I'm sure all the lives that 'soul' have occupied are remembered in heaven, "The Other Side", or whatever type of place we go to in the afterlife... if the aftelife exists.

I'm an agnostic, I don't have any particular beliefs, but I am willing to learn all I can about life and life after death.

Honestly, there is nothing to learn about it.

I don't believe in reincarnation, only in eternal life after death.

Here is the deal. If this real then people are constantly reincarnated everyday. That is why you seem to remember certain things like deja vu when you come across certain situations. I have no ideai f reincarnation is real but if it was, then i can see it happening and the only difference is you do not remember your previous life because you are a totally different person and are brought up with different family and in a diffferent country or state.

Like i said this is all speaking out of my ass but a very interesting topic to at least voice my opinion on.

reed_4 09-12-2005 04:11 AM

I don't believe in reincarnation too because it doesn't have any strong evidence to prove that it really is true.
