I finally found the cat I wanted.
well, I haven't technically found "it", because it is not born yet. But I am first on the waiting list for the next litter... babies should be born around November and available for pickup around February...
I can't wait. The cat is a Pixie-bob. It's derived from a bobcat. I opted for a male with specific characteristics.... hopefully one will be born in the next litter. If not I have to wait for more to be born. I want it with a stubby tail, 1 or 2 inches max, and I also want it to have bobcat looks (tuffs on the ears etc...) Anyways, here are pics of what it should look like. Males weigh in at around 20-22 pounds when full grown, and they tend to have the temperament of a dog. http://www.whitetailrun.com/Pixiebobs/Pixel/Pixel07.jpg http://www.pixie-bob.info/IMAGES/ima...st_3months.jpg http://www.pixie-bob.info/IMAGES/ima...est_1year2.JPG http://www.pixie-bob.info/IMAGES/ima...Me3months3.jpg |

wow... 20lbs!
The missing tail looks a little funny but I like the look of the cat. |
PixiBobs bobcat breeding is a myth. Thats why they are called legend cats. It's from an old legend about a bobcat and a domestic mating.
Anyhow you should check out Bengals. They are actually derived from an asian leopard domestic mix. Cooler cat than a pixi in my opinion. http://www.bengalcat.com/ |
Awesome looking cats..doesn't Turboangel have one similar?

As far as i remember they are actualy breed out of a mutation defect of Maine Coon cats that someone found it amusing to crossbreed back to it's own mother to make a "new" breed..
Americans for some odd reason have a lot of breading on those genetic defects, making Maine Coons with short tails, short legs, curly coats etc. In your second picture, if you look at the paws you can see that it's a Poly cat (Has thumbs) that's a pretty common mutation amongst Maine Coon Cats, but a more natural one as this has evolved in wildlife.. and they are actually better hunters with this "defect" (+ they can turn keys and open locked doors *lol*) They are cute.. But I'd prefere the real Maine Coon anyday, their long tails are really one of their finest features :o) A few Coon pics to compare (Pink male is at 28-30 pounds currently) Adult (well, allmost) http://hjem.get2net.dk/Rivendells/me...c/kentucky.jpg Kitten (how could one not want a tail like that *lol*) http://hjem.get2net.dk/Rivendells/me.../kentucky5.jpg Polly Cat http://hjem.get2net.dk/Rivendells/me...ics/wanda4.jpg This not to dizz your choice, just to give a bit of background info.. And btw. the Maine Coon is a breed between a cat and a racoon, so the legend says anyways :winkwink: In any case, good luck with the new kitty when you get it :) |

I have 6 pixie bobs. The momma cat (Maura) came from the founder of the breed here in Bellingham WA. As part of the deal getting here, I had to let Maura have one litter of kittens and give one female back to the breeder. Well she had 6 kittens. Breeder got one, my brother got one, and I have the other six.
