DVD ripping/capture (not full length) ?
 

I need to get small snippets of various movies and news reports for a project. What is the best way to get small sections of video from dvd? I don't really want to bother with doing the whole 'rip entire movie to disc' bit.

anyone recommend software? Mac or PC, doesn't much matter.
