Fuck yeah... those things are awesome. I shot an elk with one last year. I was sitting in a rocking chair on the front porch, eating a pizza, and drinking some ultra weight gain 5000 (BEEFCAKE!) at the time. Now I am totally bulked up!

The coolest thing about the bow thing is that there is no loud noise like when you fire a gun.

The GYM?

What makes you think you'll have time to use something like that at home then? It still requires the time... just not the trip. It'll most likely end up being a dust collecting centerpiece after a few weeks when the novelty wears off.....

the question is...

are YOU ready for Bowflex?

[Labret] 02-20-2002 09:24 PM

What are you trying to do?

Bulk up or slim down?

Bulking up is lots of heavy weight and lots of protein.

Slimming down is little if no weights, and 98% cardio. Get an eliptical machine for that.

Either way. Bowflex sucks.

If you want weights, just drop the 200 bucks on a weight bench.

Dawgy 02-20-2002 09:27 PM

i wanna look good naked. :)

nah just need to lose my computer pudge, put on some muscle, get my 6pack back...

FADE19 02-20-2002 09:31 PM

I got my 6 pack back today...and all it took was a trip to discount liquor...I am enjoying that 6 pack at a fraction of the price of a bowflex

Bowflex looks like some scary shit. I was thinking about getting a Soloflex to replace my old free weights then I saw her - the Rockit! Once I save enough pennies my flabby ass is a thing of the past.

LMAO... You should see the back half of my living room. I have a nice weight bench, aNordic Trak, and a Power Tred. The weight bar is great for hanging cloths on as well as a decent table for my snacks. The Nordic Trak is pretty useless but the Power Tred is great! I put the fridge on one end and all I have to do is hit the button and the fridge comes to me. Well worth every dollar I spent on it.

No need. My box is a Maytag. The last forever. The ckicken grease makes for a good candle at night plus I use it to coax your sister out of the dumpster so I can take pictures of her for Snows tranny sites.

kmanrox 02-20-2002 10:06 PM

damn, i always knew i had a long lost sister i wasnt told about... the poor girl is gonna starve to death hangin around you, leave her some scraps at least you frickin slob... so stingy

anything over 150# of weight on those damn things is impossible to do because the bows wobble and anything of high weight is impossible to do....

What kinda fucking workout can you get pushing less than 150 pounds? Interesting. Not that I was considering the Bowflex - I'd be afraid it would snap and put my eye out.

Direktor 02-21-2002 12:08 AM

I always wondered, why dont they put all fat and fucked up people to do the bowflex infomercial, ain't that the people who will order that shit anyways?

So, they have to put these bodybuilders or models to make it look smooth and easy.

Maybe they know that if you are out of shape you are going to look retarded when you use it.

This is the 8th one tonight! :glugglug
Damn I only got 4 left.

kmanrox 02-21-2002 12:10 AM

they key is to cut off fast food and shit food, and work out for at least 30 minutes, 3-4 days a week, simple.... i lost 35+ pounds doin that when i was a heaffer

TheFLY 02-21-2002 01:33 AM

No more serious reviews of this machine? Didn't Jackie Chan have the bowflex in his movie(s)? I've thought of buying one... I think it's sad that they don't even show the price of the machine on TV... only the cost per month... maybe it really is a gimmik...

darksoft 02-21-2002 01:44 AM

It's not a gimmick, and if you can handle all 150 pounds of the rods when you get it you are fucking Hercules...

Scootermuze 02-21-2002 10:05 AM

No need for the hi priced stuff..
Just eat right, do your crunches, ride a bike, get an ab roller and use it once a day to fatigue.
No one thing will create a new you.
I'm 52 and do quite well with that regiment.

Is that like 150 pounds in free weights? or is it some other type of resistance measurement that would be comparable to more weight? I'm curious becasue I normally push between 165 and 200 pounds on the bench press and much more my legs. I am aware that some machines can be more difficult than free weights.

Kimmykim 02-21-2002 10:55 AM

Bowflex sucks. Take a look at http://hoistfitness.com -- sweet machines :)

bauhaus 02-21-2002 01:34 PM

I have a NordicFlex Gold Machine....bought it at a garage sale for $40 bucks....

Remember the one from way back on late night....it was like $2400+ to buy.....thing is it really rocks...its way easier then free weights and the results are much quicker because of the isokinetic resistance......fun machine and can do all areas of your body......The bowflex I hear is a little more simple, but you would think the "bows" would eventually give and shit like that?? and aren't they $1200 or something as well!!!!

3 types of sit ups will rip out your abs....and give you a six pack in no time......for fat...start running and drinkin more water.

And Yes remove yourself from the computer at least once a week.

darksoft 02-21-2002 01:50 PM

Watsonian,

It's is MUCH more than 150 in free weights. My brother usually benches around the 250-300 range and it kicked his ass bad. He told me at one time what the ratio was but I forgot, tho I could always calll him and ask.

CDSmith 02-21-2002 01:50 PM

Our favorite link site webmistress, none other than PK (persiankitty.com) own 2 bowflexes from what she told me on an old porncity thread. I've been considering getting one for some time now too, and am finally going to make the move. Expensive? Yes, but so is a gym membership, and after your time runs out you have nothing, except the fitness you should have gained and another membership bill. 4 or 5 years at a gym is equal in price to the bowflex.

The bows are guaranteed to not wear out, and if one breaks they'll replace it minus the cost of shipping.

Weight? The bowflex can go up to 410 pounds with their upgrade packages. The resistance increases through your movements, and in most of the excercises on the bowflex you must use all of the little stabilizer muscles, and there is no such thing as momentum like there is with free weights.

When considering a home gym gizmo, the bowflex is the all-round best of the best because you can do every excercise that you could do at a gym, not just 1 or 2 like with "ab rollers" and treadmills and ski machines. One movement as opposed to over 70? I'll pay the extra few hundred bucks and get the machine that offers enough resistance anytime. My max bench on free weights was 306 lbs for 2 reps, and at that time I did 350lbs on a machine for 6. If the guy on the bowflex commercial is on the level, then I would only be able to do about 250lbs on the bowflex at that time. The resistance is just harder to control and handle, but I'm betting the pump will be good.

PK can tell you all first hand exactly what this machine can do. Email her and give her a shout. She'll answer you.

I own a Bowflex, I bought it used off of eBay for $1000. 410 lbs leg thing and lat pulldown attachment, which the site sells for like $1500 so I got a pretty good deal.

Anyway, here are some things to think about before you buy it:

1. I'd buy it new and not get any of the attachments if I could do it over again. Simply because I don't use the lat pulldown thing or the leg attachment. If I did try to do a ton of exercises each time I worked out, it would take 1-2 hrs. Instead, in 20-30 minutes, I can only do about 2-3 sets of 6-8 exercises out of 70+. After 30 minutes I'm usually ready to quit, maybe I'm a wuss or something, but I get tired.

2. It takes some time getting used to. It's definitely a different FEEL than free weights. On some exercises, the cables may rub against your arm or something slightly, which isn't too annoying.

3. The instructions that come with it do outline all of the exercises which is cool and useful, as well as some routines to do depending on what you want to get out of exercising.

4. Unless you are already buff as hell and really strong, you wont need more than 210 lbs. The most I use for any one exercise is 160-180. Stuff like the bench press is way tougher on bowflex than free weights. I'd say the average person could only do 66% of their max on freeweights on the bowflex. Just a guess.

Thats all I can think of now. Overall I recommend the product and would give it 9/10.

-=HOAX=- 02-21-2002 03:26 PM

All I know is one could make one helluva ballista or waterballoon launcher outa that fucker...one of these days I'm gonna see one at a garage sale for $50 and I'm gonna buy it and send neighborhood cats into orbit.
