when i turn on my pc (problem)

the normal green light that flashes as the pc works is now solid red (no flashing). I hear the fan go on, but absolutely nothing happens, no output to the monitor. ive had HD problems before, usually the pc boots up somewhat and i would get some sort of error message, but as i said here, there is not even output to the monitor.

my guess is the power supply, based on the description above, what are your guesses?

the pc is a micron.

Most likely a power supply problem. Only way to find out is to install another one. Perhaps you need a power supply with more juice.

i think i had a similar problem before, and my pc worked fine when i replaced the ram, so my guess is the problem is with your RAM.

ive had a similar problem and it was the proccessor chip... I needed to have that sticky shit under it removed and reapplied then it worked.

I had a similar problem and it turned out to be corrupted memory. But it could be tons of different things.

whats the best way to reassess the problem?

on second glance, it may not be the power supply, the fan on the processor is working just fine, it could be a memory problem as a few people here have said.

If you know someone who has a computer that uses the same type memory and if he'll let you borrow it long enough to test it then you'll know. You didn't fuck with the BIOS lately have you?

nope, put in a new processor, didnt work.

not the power supply, mother board is on.

the fan on the video card was fucked, put in a new one, the fan on the new card didnt even work, trying a 3rd card, it may be the AGP slot...

take the memory out, then turn it on and you should start getting some beeping. If you don't get beeps you got something alot more worse then just ram.

I had a similar problem it turned out the lights in my house were too bright.. So I turned em down a bit. It was fine after that.

Well if ther isn't any monitor output and and switching cards caused the same problem I'd say it is the AGP slot. Do you have another place on your tower where you can plug in your monitor?
