WTF is wrong with people????

I just went shopping for fall clothes for my little guy (my son) and as I always do I stopped in the Pet shop....well what a fucking RIP OFF!!!! They're selling a 2 pound Chihuahua for $1,600.00 That's INSANE!!!!! (poor thing had no water) I just got a Chihuahua from a breeder with papers for $300.00 So can someone explain how these people can justify selling it for that much! Anyway I REFUSE to buy any pets from a pet shop, they get their animals from puppy mills! Damn I'm upset!!! :disgust

I can't stand people abusing kids, old people and animals (ok some old people are annoying so it's ok...lol)

I agree with the kids and the animals, but I've already told my wife her mom's heading to the home LONG before she moves in with us.

She'll be someone else's problem. No more early morning mother-in-law panty shots for me thanks.

Yup, pet shops have alot to answer for...

People will pay it so they do it
They most likely didn't give him water so you would feel bad and pay the extremely high price

I bought my last girlfriend a Chihuahua for Valentine's day last year, the seller jacked up the price when they saw how interested we were in getting it.

Added to which they were family friends of my girlfriend at the time. .

Pretty shameless

edit: And ya I still bought the thing: $1800 Ch-CHING!

Too many animals available from shelters to go play "pure blood" and drop shitloads of money on enslaved animals that are only regarded as products.

Actually, like all products. You are really paying for the dogs that died in the kennel more than youre actually paying for the dog you buy.

Just like Adobe Photoshop price is not defined by its capabilities so much as it is defined by how many people steal it and pirate the software which in turn creates the price.

When you buy fish or animals from pet stores, you are paying for the animals that died and they lost on. Nothing more.

Most puppies from pet shops have lost it anyway, and are very hard to train. they have been in such small cages, and shitting and pissing where they eat, thay breaking them is hard to do. And they tend to be a bit neurotic.

I just got a gorgeous purebred German Shepherd using PetFinder.com. Drove down to the Key Largo animal shelter.

Total adoption fee: $10

( I felt so bad when she said that's all the cost for him was, I donated extra money to the shelter.)

:thumbsup

$1600? Surely that is a price mistake.

pet shop owners prey on people who dont know , I have two bostons .I saw one at the pet shop they wanted 2 grand for him , which is fuckin crazy. You can get champion puppies for $600 from a breeder.

I think saving them from the pet store is better then them being put to sleep. I saved my Precious from PJ's and I paid through the nose, but she is the happiest dog in the world!

It is so hard NOT to rescue them from pet stores too. I know that when you buy them, it's rewarding the puppy mills, but even in the pet shops they are not taking care of them properly. It really is a lose lose situation. So sad.

Hehe thank u!! I just love her to peices. She's a little mental at times and quite the snob but she rocks!

Funbrunette 09-09-2005 01:36 PM

Well, I adopted a german shepard mix about 3 years ago (for $50) and he's the best dog I've ever had...walking in the shelter was brutal I wanted to bring them ALL home... The disgusting thing is that the shelter took much better care of them then the pet shop!!!!! It's not really the money at this point, it's the way they're treated..And yes $1,600.00 was the REAL price! :Oh crap

Yup, that's about it. Sucks...

sherie 09-09-2005 01:41 PM

I can imagine the whole shelter thing...I always want to bring them home from where ever I am. Had I thought things through I would have prolly gone that route, however, she was an impulse buy. I was Xmas shopping almost 2 years ago and went into the pet store...felt sorry for her, picked her up, she nuzzled up on my neck, my heart melted and the rest is history. She has a new home and is treated like a Princess and I can't love her enough!
