My Pal Just Got Into New Orleans...

She works with NBC. Words can't describe how weird and freaky it is...trash all over, shoes, shit (literally), stench, trash, cars, and no people. Anywhere. A lone car driving (and on the wrong side of the freeway)! She called it "Night of the Living Dead".

And then, every once in a while, a person sitting on their porch, sitting there and just looking out - still stunned. One, in fact, is getting choppered out as I type this. She's watching them rope her up.

Before she hung up she told me the most important people in our society aren't Politicians, Bankers, store owners...the most important people are garbage men and plumbers.

The stench, by the way, cannot be described. She's never smelled anything like NO right now in her life.

Oh - she just left Biloxi Mississippi. She's a pretty tough girl - been through a lot. I've heard her cry 2 times in my life (over news) -

    1) 9/11, when she was at ground zero when it all went down.
    2) Biloxi Mississippi, yesterday.
