AVN Partners With Parents In Adult

CHATSWORTH, Calif. ? AVN has announced its partnership with Parents In Adult, a developing organization to support parents who work in the adult industry.
AVN will provide exposure for Parents in Adult in its magazines and websites, and work in concert with the organization to further its non-profit efforts.
?It?s fantastic to have a company like AVN behind a project like this. It?s apparent that AVN has been interested in, and rightly so, bridging the gap between the Internet and video side of the industry. This particular issue bridges that gap. Those who know us or have read the Parent or Pariah article understand that this is an important issue to us and an altruistic cause. It was put together simply to support the parents who work in this industry,? said Chris Potoski, founder of Parents In Adult.
?Parents in Adult addresses a need in this industry that has been overlooked for too long, so we?ve been interested in helping them any way we can since their cause first came to our attention,? said Tony Lovett, editor and publisher of AVN Online, a concerned parent himself. ?We not only want to aid in the fight against persecution and prejudice towards families whose livelihoods depend on the adult industry, but also provide a support network to inform, educate and improve the parenting skills of those same people.?
Parents In Adult will launch their website in late October. The site will contain articles and resources focused on everything from general parenting guidelines to child development, along with related news and a message board.
In addition, the organization?s founders are developing legal contacts and resources, including a legal defense fund for parents working in the adult industry. They are also seeking child development psychologists to contribute.
For more information on Parents In Adult, email [email protected] or call 919-255-9632.

About Parents In Adult: Chris and Brandi Potoski, owners of Naked Rhino Media, founded Parents In Adult. The organization sprung out of their personal battle with their own parents, who attempted to remove the Potoski?s 5-year-old daughter from their home when they found out Chris and Brandi worked in the adult industry.

About AVN: AVN has built on more than 20 years of experience to become a global leader in the Adult entertainment community. AVN?s portfolio of business units include the widely recognized monthly industry journals AVN, AVN Online and Adult Novelty Business; the leading industry conventions AVN Adult Entertainment Expo, Internext Las Vegas, Internext Summer and the Adult Novelty Expo; the consumer show Erotica Los Angeles; and online coverage through the AVN.com and AVNOnline.com news and information portals, along with cutting-edge industry e-newsletters. AVN also hosts the annual AVN Awards and GAYVN Awards ceremonies.

Nice Move Aly, seem to recall some panel discussions in regards to his issue in San Diego, at the Cybernet Expo :thumbsup

RRRED 09-09-2005 10:48 AM

Aly that's great! I'd like to learn more though cuz I really don't completely understand.

I'm very interested in becoming personally involved if at all possible! I am a parent and have experience in divorce proceedings and such that tried to point the finger at the dirty internet porn slinger.

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 09-09-2005 10:49 AM

Nice.

I pretty much lost my Daughter in an interstate court battle that lasted two years.
The court's labled me as a "Pornographer" pretty much and thats all she wrote.

Maybe this organization can help people that went through what I did.

To everyone I met with at Internext and the terrific, forward thinking people at AVN; especially Tony who took this bull by the horns, a sincere THANK YOU!

We are ecstatic about the relationship between Parents in Adult and AVN. The synergies were just too apparent for either party to ignore. From some of the responses I have seen here and the fact that my phone has been ringing non-stop since 8:00am :helpme It's apparent that this is a widespread issue.

We will be working diligently to have Parents in Adult up and fully functional by the end of October and look forward to working wth everyone who has need.

Special Thanks to the following for their support and feedback at Internext:

The entire GTS crew...I'll be following up with you next week (there is a little something special comming via UPS so keep your eyes open :thumbsup )

Lori - Your thoughts and insights have added an entirely new dimention to PIA and will certainly benefit every current and prospective parent working in our industry.

ynotbob - Your thoughts and contributions to the organization were heartfelt and sincerely appreciated. Look forward to putting into practice what we discussed.

Jack - It was terrific meeting you as well and hearing your story. I look forward to getting to know you and yours!

Sleazy! - Every time we have an opportunity to meet I am more and more impressed...not because of what you have achieved in this industry but simply due to your character. Your thoughts, questions and introductions meant more to us than you know.

KimmyKim - Thank you so much for taking the time out of your busy schedule to comb through the site and the organizations direction. Look forward to working with you some more!

Hazel, Barry, Brandy, Daron (the usual suspects) - Your support, thoughts, and introductions have meant the world to us ever since we first met in San Diego back in June 2004. Brandi and I still scratch our heads and wonder how this all happened...we are sure glad it did!

And last but certainly not least the entire AVN Team!

Paul, Farley, Tony, Aly and Monty - Thank you for everything you have done. From carrying the initial story through deciding to partner with Parents in Adult your support has been steadfast and your vision clear. We look forward to a long term, colaborative partnership!

If I have forgotten anyone...I apologize and please contact us if you have any questions!

I'm sorry to hear about what happened. I can empathize with you since our family attempted to take our daughter away as well. This is precisely why PIA was formed. These stories are far more common than I and others initially realized.

This experience and the frightening lack of information available led us to the development of PIA.

But our goal here at PIA is much broader than simply fighting back when an injustice presents itself. Our sincere desire is to develop PIA into an organization where parents who work in the adult industry can find answers, help and support on a variety of issues regarding parenting. The fact is, working in our industry presents its own unique set of challenges. We are here to help!

While AVN is being so wonderful and caring towards families in adult-
Can someone tell them to pay their former contracted employee -who is expecting a child in a month -

The one that was like a "sister" to the owner?

:1orglaugh
