Ebay adds shipping cost to auction searches, end of .01 prices with 19.99 shipping?

Fucking drives you crazy when you look for TIVO unit that's $149 and you look at the auction and shipping is $59.99. Or the .01 digital camera battery and shipping is $20 bucks. Fucking scammers can't do it anymore!

That's one of the two peevs I have about Ebay, the other being retalitory feedback.

They need to put an end to retalitory feedback, that's when someone rips you off and you give them a bad rating and the other guy then turns around and gives YOU a bad rating too! And Ebay won't do anything about it. Fuck that. :321GFY

brand0n 09-09-2005 09:51 AM

step away from the computer.

Murderous 09-09-2005 09:52 AM

Exactly... they had a show on one of the major news stations not long ago, they had this planned for a long time. They want to filter out that type of activity. I say YAY!

poppet 09-09-2005 09:52 AM

Wow. Something to be happy about with ebay. Armageddon is coming. :helpme

Seriously, though, the feedback thing is just petty bullshit anyway. I hate retaliatory fucks.

shife 09-09-2005 09:52 AM

RockDaddy 09-09-2005 09:57 AM

I read you should use seperate accounts for buying and selling! Leave honest feedback and then just open a new buying account every few months if needed. Don't know how true it is but I have seen some pretty obvious retaliation feedbacks.

No, you just contact me next time we're in ATL leaning over the balcony at a club and I have to stifle myself from making Jeff Foxworthy jokes.

Fucking brilliant! I asked a while back on the ebay feedback forums when one of those camera fuckers in NY did a retal. to me, and noone suggested that. Fucking brilliant.

niiiice, I'm just starting on Ebay and that is a very good tip!

Lensman 09-09-2005 10:22 AM

How can you be sure it's the last day?

From http://pages.ebay.com/help/feedback/...-feedback.html

If you need to leave feedback for a transaction that is more than 90 days old, you may do so using the "single transaction form" link located on the Leave Feedback page. Remember, eBay only commits to items being available for 90 days, so if it is greater than 90 days you may not be able to leave feedback.

which camera place in NY? I can collect for a fee

Doctor Dre 09-09-2005 10:30 AM

Got a news link ? They should do a deal with USPS, UPS and FedEX where sellers can select their choice of shippers, enter weight / size and it would auto calculate everything

Niqqer 09-09-2005 10:33 AM

You can leave feedback after 90 days, even after the "leave feedback" link has been removed.

Just copy the "leave feedback" link code from a recent auction, copy and paste the link code, and change the item number, and leave the bad feedback. If the guy you left the bad feedback for tries to retaliate, he won't be able to unless he knows the "feedback after 90 days" trick.

It doesn't work all the time, so the dumbass "it didn't work for me!!" crybabies can shut the fuck up... 60-70% of the time, it works.

Thats the thing that pisses me off most about Ebay.

Furious_Male 09-09-2005 11:03 AM

Finaly a nice feature put in place by ebay. I hate the shipping cost scam myself.

You have to read close sometimes because even buying a domain the seller will try to sneak a $25 handling fee in for a simple push. This should help get rid of those scamming idiots.

363R 09-09-2005 11:34 AM

I don't think it's really a scam.

I beleive when a seller is using PayPal, they only charge the seller a percentage for the actual cost of the item. If the seller add's the bulk of the cost into shipping the seller's fees will be cheaper or next to nothing.

363R 09-09-2005 11:36 AM

Also, if you don't read the fine print or everything under the item description it's your fault. It's no different than a surfer signing up to your site and not reading the fine print saying you will be rebilled every 30 days until you cancel. :winkwink:

The Truth Hurts 09-09-2005 11:45 AM

i've had my search results table customized for a long time now to show the shipping price right there in the results table.. got tired of the same shit..

$5 submissions 09-09-2005 12:19 PM

It should be interesting how the new fee will play out. It's actually a pretty good idea. As for retaliatory ratings, there's just seems to be too many subjective issues for eBay to come in and impose some sort of absolute rule. Ratings are part of the core of their model and modifications will probably be quite slow in coming.

Yes they can, they can put no shipping info in the shipping part - just put it in the listing. When they do this either "See description" or "Not specified" comes up. Plus as of now I am not seeing that feature in the ebay stores. Another way around it is to put a very cheap shipping charge and say that is for like for the slowest shipping then jack it up for the real shipping.

But still - this is better than it was before!

Jace 09-09-2005 01:04 PM

it isn't a scam, it is smart selling

ebay charges you based on what your item sold for

so, if you sell 100 items @ $1.00, your fees will be much less than if you sell 100 items at $26.00...so they sell 100 items @ $1 with $25.000 shipping

just ALWAYS look at the shipping info

one thing ebay could do, is show you what the total will be on the order confirmation page....right after you click buy, it tells you what the total will be before you decide to purchase it

sellers have been doing this for years, nothing new....just ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS remember to check the shipping before buying, and remember you can usually get it cheaper via mysimon or pricewatch

Jace 09-09-2005 01:06 PM

and as for feedback, i just don't leave it anymore unless it was a perfect transaction

there are too many assholes out there in the feedback world

tony286 09-09-2005 01:10 PM

your a rich man what are you doing fucking around on ebay? lol

No its called being a SCUM BAG. If you think you are being smart by doing this then you truly do not understand the concept of sales. I can not tell you how many sellers lose business because any buyer with a clue sees instantly the jacked up fees, and says "This dude is a douche bag".

I have a 100% feedback (start: Mar 1998) rating on eBay because I treat people fairly when buying and selling. Charge the shipping/packaging it costs to ship an item and stop trying to knife people in the back out of your own greed.

only a small % of people care if an item is $1 with $12 shipping or if its $10 with $2 shipping i have sold thousands of items on ebay and actually made more selling at $1 with with $12 shipping.

oh yea btw your an idot also there is no law saying how much you can or can not charge for shipping and there is nothing scummy about it no one forces you to buy shit on ebay if you dont like it you can gfy

Rinaldo 09-09-2005 01:50 PM

Thank th elord, the last item I bought I won the auction for 13.75, I was excited because it was a collectors Item, well it turned out it billed me 24.95 for the shipping, which was more than the item was worth.
Total bullshit, same with a movie posted I bought for 4.95, they dinged me 19.95 to ship it, the littel thing weighed less than 4 ounces.

If you had a lot of money would you buy something in the first place you find instead of trying to save money? I know I wouldn't. The more you save, the more you have.

Imagine this... someone came up to you and said,

"Hello, I have a business plan, we will sell things on an online market place, this market place is built on honesty. The market place is a business, with a world wide reach and ready consumers, excellent technology, and for this they charge modest fees. I take this into account, and we set our pricing to avoid these fees. Our entire business is like a parasite living on an animal. We provide nothing, and when then animal dies, our business also dies."

Each little thing a person does starts to draw a bigger picture.

Your entire viewpoint on life is demonstrated with your last statement. I personally do not need laws to dictate my life. You on the otherhand like being a zit on the ass of humanity.

Enlighten the rest of us, as to how you overcome the other 'fees' of life. Any welfare scams or pension fraud you want to let us in on?

pradaboy 09-09-2005 02:51 PM

i buy on ebay daily, and I never thought of someone charging high shipping fees as scum....and i have also sold on ebay, and shit sells WAY faster when you do a low price with high shipping

I have 99.9% feedback, so what is your point?
