Got my first camera today!!!!!!!!!
 

I got a Nikon D50 SLR Digital. Got a 1gig memory chip, a tripod, the works!
Now I just need to get some studio lighting!

Anyone else shoot with one of these? Any tips? Good camera?

Read a lot about studio lightning before buying anithing. A good setup can cost you lots of money.

For strobes, I like these:

No worries about power since you take it with you in the battery pack and they're alot cheaper than the bees. I've got a bunch of the JTLs and I work the hell out of them. Good stuff maynard.

That D50 is an entry level DSLR with no on camera flash sync, so you're gonna have to use an on camera flash with sync out. I'd recommend the SB-800

For quick and light key and fill light situations, I just use two SB-800s. One on the camera and one mounted to a tripod mounted hot shoe. Then you just set the flashes as master and slave. Kick down the fill light a couple stops and blast away.

Works like a champ.

There are lots of studio set ups that are for sale in the papers.. Nothing wrong with saving a dime when you are first learning.
