FEMA Prohibits Media From Photographing Dead

After all, it is a HOMELAND security matter :thumbsup

New Orleans, LA (AHN) - The Federal Emergency Management Agency, leader of post-Hurricane Katrina rescue efforts, announces it does not want news media to photograph fatalities as more and more bodies are recovered from New Orleans' receding waters.

The agency has rejected requests from journalists wanting to accompany rescue boats searching for storm victims, Reuters reports.

A spokeswoman says space was needed on the rescue boats and that "the recovery of the victims is being treated with dignity and the utmost respect."

FEMA states, "We have requested that no photographs of the deceased be made by the media."

The White House is receiving widespread criticism for its handling of the relief effort. Several officials claim response has been slow and bureaucratic, resulting in the current devastating conditions in those areas hit by Katrina on Aug. 29.

Just like for the dead soldiers coming back in a box ... This administration has so much respect ... they should start having some for the living :2 cents:

They are dead, they do not need respect. Now I can understand respecting the living relatives and all.
Though I do think the press should be allowed to photograph and document this piece of history.

Them not wanting people to take pics of the dead has nothing to do with respecting the deceased...

Wonder why they didn't request photographers to do the same during the tsunami coverage.

because its going to look like concentration camp shit and they dont want the public to see literally piles of unrecognizable, water deformed, gastrous exploded bodies and more.

can you imagine what exploding corpses must look like?

they want to keep a lid on this one for sure.
